No. I get paid before the hawt secks occurs. Then, approximately 63 days later when she whelps, I get 2d pick of the litter or I keep the money.:D

What? I never paid a stud fee until I had proof (a pic) that dirty leg was actually thrown.

We're in the pug bidness.

I've got a pure bread registered english bulldog. I've thought about studing him out, but I consider the entire thing distasteful and will only do so if I badly need the money.

That dog is smarter than 3/4 of the people that I come into contact with. And he's better looking than 90% of kids.

I don't need $1100. I could pay it tomorrow and have all of this go away. I'm not going to pay one dime for something that I did not do. What I want is worth far more than $1100 and that is my integrity.

Is that one of those Cavalier King Charles Spaniels? If so, you need to let the soul patch grow longer and get a wig!;)

That is insane. What keeps you from just locking the dogs up in different cages and keeping the cash?

"The bitch didn't get pregnant? Oh, well, I guess it didn't take. Thanks for the money, sucker!"

I have never heard of such a thing. You must have met some very desperate dog owners.

Okay, here's how it works. If the female puts live puppies on the ground and any of them live 48 hours, I get to keep the money or 2d pick of the litter. My choice, per our written contract. If no pups, no cash.

The reason its wise for the stud owner (me) to get the money up front is because you often don't know the person well and its just easier than tracking them down later. That way, the stud owner doesn't get stuck.

If there are no puppies, I send the money back. Together, we calculate the whelp date 63 days after the breeding session. IOW, if there is no pitter patter of pups two months after the canine skronkage, she gets her money back.

Now, in case you're wondering, what if the female's owner tries to say there were no puppies and there actually were? Easy, the stud owner (me) has to certify and sign the registration paperwork on the litter and the female's owner can't fake my sig and AKC# without running afoul of the AKC.

Presumably she could sell the pups unregistered, but she'd get a lot less. Besides, most of these people are breeding show dogs and without AKC registration, the offspring of this union can't be shown.

Makes sense. I've just never heard of it done that way. But then again, I don't get out much.

We use our in-law's pug as our stud. I still demand proof that coupling took place. But then again, I hate my in-laws.

Neither my dog nor I get any respect.

Let me tell you though, girls freaking loooove my dog. I had him in the car with me one day and this mustang full of teenage girls pulls up and they see him and yell "OMG he's so ugly he's cute!" I'm not sure if they were talking about Winston or myself, but I tend to think it was the dog.

Update. The "heat" has run its course. The little minx is no longer receptive. My dog is wore slap out and refuses to call her. She goes home to Missouri on Saturday. I hope it "took."
