All joking aside, you would be shocked how little of that is around here.

The people telling FEMA all kinds of BS stories, trying to get money is
sickening.

I have never been shocked to learn of the depths some people will descend in order to make a buck. To date, the worst are the folks I've heard about from time to time who claim their kid(s) have some horrible deadly disease in order to solicit donations to pay for the kids' alleged treatment.

To me, that sort of scam is more deplorable than giving 5 buck hummers to sailors behind a pier trash dumpster.

People who fake illnesses to capitalize on the generosity and compassion of others deserve to be tied-up with barbed wire and fed to hungry hogs (maybe Wu's pigs on "Deadwood.") Those people have committed two crimes. The first one is obvious, The second one is the fact that when the contributors find out they've been scammed, it makes them less likely to give to people who really need help at some point in the future.
