Pick a Random Team to Love

i liked the idea of the random team to hate thread, so i decided to start this thread. setting aside oklahoma, which is an obvious choice, pick a random team that you like and give your reasons. i have to say baylor just because, sometimes, i feel really sorry for them. i'm pretty sure this would turn to hate if they ever beat us though.

this is not random, but I will also be following Kansas this year. I live on the missouri side of kansas city, but I work in Kansas and their is alot of KU people here. i would love to see KU come out on top in the North and then we play them here (KC) in the big 12 tournament. I still love the fatman and I constantly remind the KU grads that their football coach has a national champ ring on.

2. Northern Illinois, I started liking them when Michael Turner was up there and now I follow Garrett Wolfe.

Washington University in St. Louis Bears. They are Division III, but hey the are my undergrad. And those buttkickings WU gave the University of Chicago in the I-55 Rivalry come in a close second to the buttkickings OU gives TX in the Red River Rivaly.

I can say that I like Baylor like a kid brother. I remember going down there to watch OU in 1999 and the kid behind me was saying, "The Sooners aren't that good. Nebraska was beating us WAY worse by halftime."

Of course we went on to destroy them far worse that NU did, but the way that people gauged teams down there was by how many points Baylor got drilled by. Fun stuff.

I live in Champaign, IL, so I am always rooting for the Illini to win. Hasn't worked in a while.

Not Random... but I love the Georgia Bulldawgs. I got my grad there and when you've seen a game between the hedges when things are going crazy (i.e. Auburn last year on fourth down before they got that ridiculous play) things are just different...

BTW I challenge BigXII tailgaiting to live up to the SEC as sad as it sounds. Every tailgate has fried chicken 10 chairs and a picnic table full of the fixin's for the day, and a satellite TV. If there was an open spot of grass then somone was on it for about a 1/4 mile away...

Also Athens is the BEST college town. 60 bars within walking distance of campus and eachother and the ratio is ~60:40 although sometimes it seemed 70:30 (southern belles to men). I love my Norman which is why I came back to get my last degree here and I love my OU football (I am Sooner Born and will be Sooner Dead) but Athens is an experience.

NC State
-grew up in Raleigh and always preferred them over UNC

Texas Tech
-okay, last season aside... I've never had a problem with this team. I like Leach's seemingly redundant strategy of throw the ball as hard as you can every play, and somehow they still manage a 500 yard average... it's just great :-D

Minnesota
-Gophers is such a funny name... but they play a classy game. And they're usually one of the few in the conference who has a shot at beating Michigan, MSU, or Ohio State.

Arizona
-Almost went to this school, but more importantly, this school drafted me on my first try at NCAA 2006 on the Race for the Heisman. Those kinds of bonds just can't be broken. So Bear Down!

Alabama
-Purely for strategic reasons last season, but then I kinda just started to like them. I was hoping they would replace the whorns or SUC, but then they screwed up by not having an offense. That hurts a team, truly.

North Texas
-Yeah, I go here. I have to root for a home team. Even if they suck.

That's true. I find myself gauging teams the same way. It's relaly no joke, when talking football down there we'll often say "Well UT beat us by 20 pts but Missouri only beat us by 17 therefore UT>Mizzou"
