will this hold up in court? I understand the reasoning, kind of, but you really can't legislate taste can you?

Honestly. Why would these cause problems? The bandana's and colors I can understand. But who gives a F if you want your teeth or ears to look funny.

I have both, BTW.

But students said the body modification is simply self-expression.
"Really, a grill is just like an earring. It's fashion," said junior Devonte Wright, 16.
If you can't find another way of "self expression" aside from stretching your earlobes and putting **** on your teeth, perhaps you don't have anything worth expressing to begin with.

I had to tell some little punk to STFU at a movie a couple week ago and he had grillz in. My biggest concern was that I was going to have to elbow him in the mouth and that those fakking things would get stuck in my arm. :D

because in a school setting the courts have held that you don't have as broad a range in your "freedom of expression"

the schools have already (smartly) couch their reasoning behind safety. As long as they apply it evenly to all students (basically a uniform modification) they should be able to prevail.

gotcha. When I was a small lad matriculating at Grand Ave Elementary I had some silver caps on my teef that the Dentist put there. They were in the back but were there nonetheless. I guess with anything school related a note from the Doctor should work in situations like that?

When grillz are outlawed, only outlaws will have grillz.

What the **** kind of name is Devonte!?

How bout an African-American males name ******!!

Another classic example of history continously repeating itself. Another older generation who is confused and "out of the loop" w/ todays trends and fashions trying to regulate a much younger and more urban generation. Umm... where have i seen and heard this before...

every school district should just go to uniforms and they wouldn't have to worry about this crap.

I think we should just get rid of schools so we can have many many uneducated poor people with nothing better to do than commit crime.
