house we moved out of last August burned down last night

just found out it was struck by lightning. whoa.
It was an old ranch house and had one of those lightning cable things on it but one side wasn't grounded.
glad I wasn't there.

ooohhhhh. My brother got to put out a fire in Tulsa yesterday afternoon. A house got hit by lightning and someone from some apartments was on a balcony smoking a ciggy and saw smoke coming from the house and called 911. He said that he got to get into the attic and hose er down. It probably was a different house as the one he went to they saved.

My new next door neighbors are only there for a few months. Their new house burned down a couple weeks after it was built (electrical fire, contractor negligence) so their insurance is paying for them to stay in the house next door to ours until it gets rebuilt. I'm trying to figure out how that works, since the house was for sale. Not sure if the insurance company purchased the house and will resell it later, or if they're renting it from the previous owners.

it was a small house on a ranch, rented it from a good friend.
