For me, I want the same 3 hymns that have been sung at funerals in my family as long as I can remember. Nearer My God to thee, Amazing Grace, and My hope is built on nothing less.

Free Bird
One (Metallica)
See You On the Other Side (Ozzy)

I don't think my wife will obey my wishes when the time comes.

Boomer Sooner

Other than that, I don't really care.

Amazing Grace played on bagpipes

Good call, bagpipes at a funeral sound awesome.

Stairway to Heaven on the bagpipes would be the high water mark.

Ditto.

On a side note, I hate "Amazing Grace".

Because you only get to watch your funeral from Heaven once, unless God lets you record it on DVD to play in the castle he built just for you?

I like the song 'In the Garden' alot. I dont want any organ music at all. Piano and violin would be nice. :)

I like that idea. I think I will steal it.

I do plan on having Boomer Sooner played. It will make the attendees laugh and say "Boy, she never gives up." And I am requesting the attendees sing along. :D
The OU Chant is also a good idea.

Because you only get to watch your funeral from Heaven onceMighty big assumption, Mom, given most of the characters on this board.

Personally, I'd go with "The Future's So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades."

I want all of my friends to sing, with a single guitar accompaniment, "Dust In The Wind". Just like Old School.

And I'm serious about this, I want a pine box. An old school 1800's style pine box. My soulless body don't need some fancy schmancy thing to rot in. Don't waste my wife and or children's money on some crap like that.

Look at the coffin, with golden handles
Isn't it grand, boys, to be bloody well dead?
Let's not have a sniffle, let's have a bloody good cry
And always remember, the longer you live
The sooner you'll bloody well die.

Look at the flowers, all bloody wilted...
Isn't it grand, boys, to be bloody well dead?
Let's not have a sniffle, let's have a bloody good cry
And always remember, the longer you live
The sooner you'll bloody well die.

Look at the mourners, bloody great hypocrites..
Isn't it grand, boys, to be bloody well dead?
Let's not have a sniffle, let's have a bloody good cry
And always remember, the longer you live
The sooner you'll bloody well die.

Look at the preacher, bloody sanctimonious
Isn't it grand, boys, to be bloody well dead?
Let's not have a sniffle, let's have a bloody good cry
And always remember, the longer you live
The sooner you'll bloody well die.

Look at the widows, bloody great females...
Isn't it grand, boys, to be bloody well dead?
Let's not have a sniffle, let's have a bloody good cry
And always remember, the longer you live
The sooner you'll bloody well die.

I have an uncle that thinks the exact same thing. He did some checking and found out that much pine is damn expensive now. ;)

I'm all for cremation. I can't see the point of wasting potentially useful land by sticking a dead body in it and walling it off. I mean, if you're just going to bury people in a field as fertilizer then great, but this business of putting up stones and never using the land for anything else is just goofy.
