This has to be one of the absolutely most brilliant songs ever. I don't see how anyone could not like this song. It's is just pure brilliance.

Well, we'll never really know unless Freedy gets drunk and slaps around Tanya Tucker. Then we can ask her. :D

Jimmy Webb..........

Jimmy is busily at work on several things for the Oklahoma Centennial for next year - one song, "Oklahoma Rising" which he co-wrote with Vince Gill will be recorded shortly, and a 13 minute Suite which will first be performed with a full orchestra this September, will then performed again at the Oklahoma Festivities in November of 2007!

This is my favorite Jimmy Webb song.....

I bruise you, you bruise me
We both bruise too easily
Too easily to let it show
I love you, and that's all I know

All my plans have fallen through
All my plans depend on you
Depend on you to help them grow
I love you, and that's all I know

When the singer's gone
Let the song go on...

But the ending always comes at last
Endings always come too fast
They come too fast, but they pass to slow
I love you, and that's all I know

When the singer's gone
Let the song go on
It's a fine line between the darkness and the dawn
They say the darkest night
There's a light beyond

But the ending always comes at last
Endings always come too fast
They come too fast, but they pass too slow
I love you, and that's all I know
That's all I know
That's all I know

That song makes me depressed. It reminds me of my days trucking through Kansas in the wintertime. WTF is a lineman, anyway?

I believe the song is referring to telephone linemen. You don't call folk who get up an work on power lines and phone lines linemen in Oklahoma?

a lineman is a guy that works on lines, like electrical or phone.

glenn campbell had several really good songs, from about 66 on.

wichita lineman is very good, (IMHO) but it's kinda simple, short & not a lot of words. i (like RoyalFan) really like it.

also galveston & phoenix.

My dream has always been to slap around with Tanya.

Heh, so was mine. You know, until she got, like, old. ;)
