us and about 100 million others.

Mrs Homey thinks Johnny-boy is hawt.

I think Kiera is just about the purtiest split-tail on the screen these days.

I'll provide an unbiased review later.

Good, but not as good as the first one. If you're taking kids, make sure they aren't the type to get freaked-out by scary stuff. There be much kid nightmare fodder, yarrrr.

Bottomline: worth the price of admission, don't wait for the DVD.

So that means I shouldn't tell you that Cap'n Jack goes crazy and kills purty Keira and Orlando gets all p*ssed and gets some voodoo lady to bring her back to life using Davy Jones's crazy disembodied heart and then Keira's a zombie and turns on them and they have to kill her again?

You forgot the part about the five chinese brothers who drank the ocean in order to ground the Black Pearl.

Chinese. sheesh! BTW, that's a pretty non-PC book by today's standards. I bet it has been condemned by the NEA or something.

I think it might have been better than the 1st in some ways.

Since I don't wish to spoil the Chinese Brothers part any further...I won't expand upon the ways I think it was worse/better.

I also thought Keith Richards' acting debut as Jack's dad was the awespme. When he fell out of that palm tree on the evil island that was art imitating life.

The fam and I saw it last night. Chinese Laotians drinking the ocean while rolling stones grounded a zombie ship notwithstanding... I thought the movie was better done than the first. Neither movie will go down as my favorite (personal tastes, not bad movie), but they are decent entertainment and worth the $ to go see. Some movie goers will really enjoy them. The movie was clean and I wasn't the least bit concerned about having my kids there as well a friend's kid.

I guess it would be sorta gross and a little spooky at times for little kids, but not all that bad. The ending, IMHO, was wanton emotional manipulation and gratuitous commercialism. It is obvious that what we've heard about #3 coming out next summer is true.

They're from the Ocean???

what ocean?

i thought it was pretty good, but at the 10:45 showing last night i would not have expected 3 generations of bumpkins surrounding me for 2 rows

i knew it was going to be bad when there was one of those detachable baby seat/carrier things in my row and the parents kept having to reach over the seat to get the toddler that was sitting with grandma in front of us to stop running around before the previews/commercials started

who brings an infant AND a toddler to a movie? and that late? i mean we didn't get out until after 1:30 or so...

decent flick though... anyone stay through the credits?

It's a line from King of the Hill. When Hank meets his neighbor "I'm Laotain." "What? You're from the ocean?"

I saw it last night. I thought it was certainly worth the price of admission, but was a little dissapointed that I didn't know that a third PotC movie had been filmed along with this one. It would have made the non-ending easier to take.
In that regard, it was kind of like The Empire Strikes Back, except that nobody got their hand chopped off.

:D Yeah!! Can't wait to see what Keith Richards is like in part 3.

And another thing... if you are a parent PLEASE for the love Sooner Football make sure they are OLD enough to actually follow what is going on and can keep still for more than 30min!!!!!!! There is nothing more RIDICULOUS than people who take they're stupid kids to a movie that is over their heads!! Its just a recipe for entropy for everyone around you and the kid.

i need someone to explain to momma hatfield that when she comes to the big city one cannot show up to a 3 o'clock show at 3 o'clock and expect to get a good seat.

still trying to unclinch my jaw from the tension created in the first row.

I tried to take my 11 yo Friday evening, but all of the freakin shows were SOLD OUT. I had to listen to her whine all weekend about wanting to go see it, so we will make another run at it tonight.

We got there 40 minutes early and still had to stand near the end of a long line.

Haven't seen it yet but did anyone have a reaction to the new Walt Disney Pictures logo that started the film?

Heard that it was visually breathtaking.

I thought the movie was decent. My only complaint is that it was long on spectacle, and short on everything else.

Which isn't always bad thing, but two hours of almost continuous spectacle is a bit much for me.

Yeah, I thought that was slightly overdone. I guess the director got excited and thought he had something good going. It was intense and cool at times. They also squeezed a little comedy out of it. But yeah, overdone.

I finally saw it, it was okay but took 2 1/2 hours to tell a story that required only about 1 1/2. Davy Jones and his crew were interesting.
