Yeah the 8 minute standing ovation at Cannes shocked me. It's getting really good early reviews. I can't wait.

To me, I think that had more to do with Jay's battle with Heroin. He barely made it through that last flick. Don't know if Smith thought he would be around to play "Jay".

He definitely carried the movie. His delivery is perfect.

Kevin Smith originally wrote the part of Randall for himself, that's why he has all the best lines.

I gave in and looked at the cast

Ben Affleck - Gawking Guy
Walter Flanigan - Pack o' Smokes Guy

always a guarantee those two will be in a View Askew production.

What I've heard is that Kevin Smith promised Jay he'd do another movie with Jay and Silent Bob if Jay would get off the heroin.

I don't know how accurate that is, so take it for what it's worth.

Don't know about that, but the whole jay on Heroin saga is told by Kevin through a series of Journal entries. If you are a fan of the movies, it's pretty interesting.

It starts here:

Just follow the journal entries.

He has since come out and said that, yes, while the "Jay getting clean thing" helped, he was making this movie more for himself than for Jay. It's like the whole "growing up / coming full circle" thing...

I went to one of his "Evening with Kevin Smith" shows, and he said that he had told Jason that he wouldn't make another Jay & Silent Bob movie until he kicked the heroin habit.

At the time, Mewes had kicked his habit and had just mentioned to Smith that he was kinda broke...

I'm looking forward to it although I don't think it can live up to the hype. Clerks was just one of those movies where the stars aligned and Kevin Smith hasn't come close to matching his initial effort.

People who use Clerks as the barometer to judge Kevin Smith movies are always going to be disappointed. Here's how I approach it: If it's like the first 20 minutes of Chasing Amy, it's a good movie. If it's like the REST of Chasing Amy...it's Jersey Girl. :D

Also, Joel Siegel is nothing but a pathetic attention whore. The donkey thing wasn't nearly as bad as he made it sound; it was actually funny as hell.

if some of you guys bathed more regularly, didn't wear your star wars t-shirt in public, and took a date to the movies, you might actually get laid every once in a while.

Watch the credits of Clerks II, near the end, for a Kevin Smith shoutout to Jersey Girl.

But don't wait till the very, very, VERY end...you'll start watching thousands of names roll by for no good reason.

Very over the top, even self aware at times, but I still liked it. The Buffalo Bill thing was hilarious. The last 30 mins were very "WTF?". The LOTR/Star Wars bit was good, as was the "Trolls" talk. Randalls face was priceless throughout.
