You rawk!!

I had to pay my $153 bucks to get my speeding ticket deferred and the Court stays open until 10pm M-F. I went up there at 9:15 last night and there was no line in the lobby. When I got into the Courtroom there was one lady in front of me yapping about not knowing that her son wasn't a licensed driver and it was safer for him to drive at the time than her yadda yadda yadda. I was in and out in a total of 15 minutes.

Don't spent that $153 all in one place!

The question is, are you going to go to a class or rent the video?
And have you ordered a copy of your driving record yet? It takes 6 weeks to get it back.

Nope, no classes or videos for me. I just can't get a traffic ticket in FW for 60 or 90 days. I'll go check my paperwork.

Why would I need to order a copy of my driving record?

Yes, double check the paperwork. By deferred, I think you've agreed to take the class within the 90 days and not get another ticket of any sort for a year. That way it doesn't show up on your record.
To qualify for the class, you can't have had a ticket in the previous 12 months - the driving record is your proof. You take the class completion certificate and copy of the driving record back to the court clerk by the end of the 90 days.

So I looked it up online. Apparently the class isn't always required.... hmmmm, I had to take the class. So di my kids....

No. I didn't agree to take any damned class. I agreed to pay them $153 and not get another ticket in Fort Worth through 9/29/06. And they have agreed to dismiss the ticket if I stick up to my end of the deal

If it's the same as McKinney, you don't have to take defensive driving if you received probation.

I think the other option is to take the defensive driving class like Baja was talking about. It did seem to be more complicated than the deferred thingy.

How fast were you going? ____mph in a _____mph zone?

I ask because I was under the impression that <10mph over the limit doesn't go on your driving record anyway.

I was doing 70 in a 60. He wrote me the ticket for doing 70 in a 60. Oh well. In the past the policemen always dropped it down to 9 over but not this guy.

I guess it is based on the speed. So maybe less than 10 mph over doesn't require the class (you lucky duck), 11-20 mph over requires a class and over 20, it isn't even an option.
I haven't had very many and it has been several years. As my kids say, they just can't catch me to give me a ticket. :O

you can do the deferred option that I did up to 25 mph over here in Fort Worth.

I was doing 70 in a 60.

You got pulled over for that? I guess the cop didn't feel like chasing down everyone going 80. It's always the slowest antelope that gets taken down.

Not over here. So be careful if you drive over here.

Drive as fast as you want. But no under age skoal dipping. Its amazing how a few miles changes the law.

I got nailed near Roby, TX last August for going 90 in a 70...

...they couldn't find the ticket, so the folks in Roby said they'd dismiss it when it came in for lack of timely filing.

About a month ago, I got a summons from SWEETWATER, TX informing me that I had 7 days to pay the fine or else they'd issue a bench warrant on me. The stupid TX smokie filed it in the wrong county.

Thank you very much...case dismissed cause of Texass stupidity!

You know, if all of you weren't speeding, you wouldn't have anything to worry about.

I KNOW...CRAZY TALK!

who's worried? I was happy and amazed that you can see a muni judge up until 10 pm every day of the week.
