I forget what brand mine is, maybe dirt devil?, but it is maroon colored and has an attachment that is on the top front of it that is a spinning brush thing. It works pretty well and was like 130 or 150 maybe.

Also, the one that the unit lifts off to go on stairs and stuff is pretty good and that might be in the 170 range. Its bright red.

Target has a good selection/range of suckers. :texan:

I was doing some research on vacuum cleaners a year ago, and the Hoover Windtunnel was the best on the market for the money. I've got a 7500 that's self-propelled that my in-laws got at a garage sale for $50. It works great, and has several attachments. You can pick one up new for ~$225 and used a lot cheaper than that.

When I was looking at what was out there, the consensus was to stay away from bagless vacs.

where i live.....which borders on a University neighborhood....the alleys and dumpsters are filled with upright Dirt Devils that don't work anymore on a regular basis.

i've tried to adopt a couple of them but they seem to be pretty disposable.

The Hoover Windtunnel works very well - and we have 3 large, hairy dogs.

Somebody gave us a light-weight Oreck. It really sucks!

OK, very, very lame, but somebody had to say it. :O

Seriously, we like it.

You mean this one? That's what we have and I highly recommend it. It's a Bissell. I think we paid about 160 for it.

here's a pic of the detachable canister. (**** not included)

Thanks everyone. We had previously bought a dirt devil to replace the one we had. Only paid like 50 bucks for it...it never worked right.

I'm going to Tar-jay tomorrow to look.
