Norman's is pretty good. We've been going to it for years--mainly because I don't want to watch fireworks with 50K of my closest friends. ;)

We always go to the Reeve's Park one in Norman. However, we always park at the Lloyd Noble and kick back on the grass right by Jenkins. It's a cool dealio.

AHEM, that's Reaves Park, thank you very much. the townie speaks. :D

see, i don't get why people get all hubbubbed to get into parking situations and such. kinda the point is you can see fireworks from a long ways off. climb up on your roof with a beer, and chill. don't fight traffic, people, or nothing.

one of coolest fireworks i ever saw was driving through the Texas panhandle south toward Amarillo on 254 or whatever it is that runs north-south out of Dumas or Dalhart and not only could you see fireworks in about 3 or 4 towns on the flat night horizon but there were thunderstorms too in other parts. it was really cool. we just pulled the truck over and checked it out.

We watch the Norman show too. We park at Madison Elementary which is right by the old practice field. Take some chairs and some snacks/beverages..

36th & Rockwell at the park has a good one but crowded. White Water. Frontier City. There is one at Wiley Post Airport too. The Bricktown Ball Park does one separate from Bricktown Dowtown too I think.

We are going to Yukon.

When we lived in Albuquerque we were up on a hill on the west side of town and would hop on to our neighbor's deck and watch about 3 or 4 different shows.

It was cool.

You know the funny thing? Oklahoma City has an orchestra and doesn't even use it for the 4th of July - the Philharmonic goes out to Yukon to play that one. I don't know why OKC hasn't said "now hold on just a minute" and had the Phil play the show in Bricktown.

Because most folks in the OKC don't know what the heck you're probably talking about.

It's the Hillbilly thing. ;)

Hot Dog Eating Championship, 2 to 7 p.m.

Now that looks worth the trip. I'd enjoy watching sweaty hillbillies shoveling hot dogs down their gullets until they spew like a Glenpool gusher!
