View Full Version : What's your favorite headset for an ipod?

I've decided I'm not crazy about my earbuds - they keep falling out or loosen and degrade the sound quality. Anybody have a suggestion for a replacement? I'm leaning toward either the behind-the-neck kind or the earbuds that clamp around the back of your ears.

There was a thread a while back - everyone around here seems to love the Shure e2c earbuds, I just can't afford them right now.

I bought a pair of those e2c's 2 weeks ago at Best Buy for about $100 and they're OK. They have several earbud attachments and you can choose the best one suited for your ear but let me clarify the e2c's are not a good as the Bose headphones that cost close to $300, so get the headphones if you have the money.

Westone UM2s absolutely rock. Dual driver in-ear buds... very comfortable, great sound -- better than Etymotics, in my opinion. Like most earbuds, they take some experimentation before you find a comfortable set of buds to fit your ears.
If you need over-the-ear for comfort, Bose is pretty much the most popular choice, although I'm with those who say the Bose sound is less than stellar. They've just come out with a third-generation sound-cancelling model (on-ear) that's supposed to be lighter and more comfortable. Can't speak for the sound quality.
Shure makes a wide range of earbuds from very affordable to insanely expensive. Decent sound quality, well-constructed, but their high end is not (IMHO) at the level of Etymotics or Westone.

I've read nothing less than stellar reports on these earbuds - http://www.discountheadphones.com/ultimate.html When I decide to get some earbuds these are what I'll get. Rated as good as or better than both Shure and Etymotic and less $$.
For headphones, look into Sennheisers - I don't recommend Bose, for anything audio related.

Psh. You can go the pedestrian route. Bruce would buy the custom-moulded earbuds at ~$500 a pop.

Do they send you a kit to make plaster molds of your ears for those custom earbuds? :D

I have a friend that found a pair of e3c's on EBAY for under $100. You might look there if the budget is tight...

I like my e2cs. If I use the foam buds I get pretty good sound cancelling, they weren't nutty expensive, and they sound great.

Before I dropped my cold hard cash on new irons and a driver, I considered getting the UE-10's. I think I made the right choice, although I haven't been able to make it to the course in the past few weeks. :(

Over $100 for ear buds? You've gotta be kidding me. In fact, more than $10 for ear buds?

I just posted a thread about shures not too long ago, not going to look though.
Someone recommended a different brand that looked interesting, but mine were too good of a price.
Shure doesn't make the e2c's anymore from what I can tell.

These are the ones I use and from my experience and the research I've done on them, the performance for price with these can't be beat.
