JERUSALEM (CNN) -- Israeli aircraft attacked a bridge in central Gaza early Wednesday, the Israel Defense Forces said, but it added land units had not crossed into Gaza.

Inside Gaza, Palestinians have dumped piles of sand on major roads, intended to slow any advance of Israeli tanks and armor and provide cover for gunmen.

THAT is how they are defending themselves against Israel? Wow.

True

It looks like Israel is not backing down on this, they rarely do though.

IDF: Troops entering Gaza

Israeli troops crossed the border into southern Gaza early Wednesday after airstrikes targeted a power plant and at least two bridges, the Israeli military told CNN. The campaign is aimed at securing the release of a soldier kidnapped by Palestinian militants. Palestinians have been building sand mounds on border roads to try to slow a land attack.

If you mess with Israel you are basically messing with the US seeing as how all of their military equipment is American made including F15's and F16's.

Only difference is that their troops are not as well trained as ours, but they are still quite good

It has nothing to do with any proclaimed Holy Land (land that is allegedly Holy to 3 religions whom seem to have major disagreements with each other). But rather a government that I don't trust in any possible way. To think they are as close a friend as some would naively believe is akin to saying that France is our best friend.

We wouldn't sell them our best fighter jets if we didn't trust them just a little bit.

If it's trust that's causing us to sell to them, more fool us.

More likely, IMO, it's because we know that:
1. They're not a threat to us.
2. They're not a threat to us.
3. They'll most likely use them against people who are a threat to us.
4. They're not a threat to us.

Well I'd say it's more along the lines of a semi-fragile tenuous friendship. For the longest time the establishment of an Israeli state was a political view of us having a foothold in that region of the world. However, our government was slow to learn that Israel is that barely under control attack dog that is just as likely to snap at it's controller as it is those it was 'trained' to attack.

Scott D

Our government who is supposed to protect us apparently does.

Our government is also 'best friends' with a country that we spent the better part of 100 years fighting to become independant of, while the citizens have gained an arrogance on par with their 'original best friend' whom they mock as being surrendering traitorous socialists.

intelligence in the middle east.

Iraq nuke plant? We couldn't take it out for political reasons. Israel did.

They help us a whole lot, but can't do it visibly, as the arabs look for

Well. This link says they did apologize at "8 June 1967:1614" but it doesnt change the questions ...

http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:1wc-vMWAu1sJ:www.ameu.org/uploads/liberty_nov19_2002.doc+USS+Liberty+apology&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=7&client=firefox-a

It has what it calls "The facts, as known". If they are even remotely correct, the apology is irrelevent.

This guy tries to briefly bring several threads together...

http://logogo.net/00opening.htm

On June 8, 1967, during the Six Day War, Israeli forces attacked the USS Liberty, a U.S. Navy intelligence-gathering ship off the coast of Gaza, killing 35 men and wounding 171. Israeli apologized and called the attack an accident. The U.S. government accepted the apology and did not openly challenge the explanation For almost three decades the crewmen of the Liberty have waged a campaign to have the attack investigated. Indeed, they claim that not only was the attack was intentional, but also that Johnson recalled the Sixth Fleet rescue flights to avoid a clash between the U.S. and Israel.

A banner on Syrian television reported that the Syrian air force intercepted the Israeli aircraft and "forced them to separate and leave the area." It called the Israeli airspace breach "an unacceptable, hostile and provocative act."

The Syrian statement did not mention the reported overflight of al-Assad's home.

Israel is a tough one, it really does have two sides.

One side is that their human rights record is suspect at best. The other side is that they do not take **** and do things we can't. Giving Texas is the best solution I've heard yet.

Palestinians are the stupidest people on Earth, hands down. Global sympathy is on their side, the world is literally wants them to have their way. What they need is a MLK or Ghandi to run civil disobedience and show the world that the Israelis are *******s.
