Dad's got a dual core Athlon 64. He loves it. For my last computer build I used an asus socket 7. I've not had any problems with it.

ASUS A8N-SLI Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard

stuck this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145575) ram in it

The only problem I'm having is that I am using Windows XP x64 and not all of my software has been compatible.

and my last computer I built (about 5 years ogo) was an AMD with an asus mobo, no problems. Mom has it now.
