my sister says she cannot get some CDRW's to play in her car. is it because its a rewriteable?
also, she also is complaining that some store bought music cd's won't play on her home computer.. she says its the ones generally with extra stuff on them. like bonus video or some crap like that..

any answers?

I really can't help here. I've never tried to play a cdrw in your sister's car.

Did you play 'just the tip' in her car?

Do they still make CD's? ;) Tell her to get an Ipod and FM transmitter.....

It's probably because it's a CDRW - they work a little differently than
a CDR. The recording session has to be closed for it to play in most
stand alone cd players.

Now, is she hawt or not?

slickdawg might have the answer there. Make sure the session is finalized.

WARNING: If you finalize a CDRW, it will never be able to be written to again.
Thus, it becomes a CDR.

I have erased many cdrw's that were finalized. I think. I'll check.

I burned cdrws that would not play except on my computer. cdrs worked fine though in my truck and everywhere else.

Anyone try these new laser burners that burn your data on one side and burn an image you want on the other yet?

I hear they will probably do away with labels and having to write on the discs.

The lightscribe by HP? I've seen 'em, but haven't tried one out yet.

i'm thinking the same thing

i play CDRW MP3 CDs in my car all the time

are these audio CDs or data CDs?

i'm thinking some older audio only decks might not read multisession disks, i know some older CD-ROM drives don't

CDRWs suck. The format is more obscure than CDR, so a lot of equipment won't read it properly (like some car stereos) and the storage medium is less stable than CDR - the RWs degrade almost as fast as VHS tapes, if I'm remembering right.

Plus, CDs are cheap, just burn to CDR and burn a new one if you need to change anything. You can use the old ones as frisbees. ;)

The older the violin, the sweeter the music.

How old is her CD player? Some older CD players just can't cope with CD-R's and/or CD-RW's and/or CD's with "bonus content".

If it was made in the last 6-8 years or so, it should be fine; anything older than that and it starts to get sketchy.
