Anyone else blister AFTER putting on aloe vera? I got a bad sunburn on Thursday. Last night I put some aloe vera gel on it and it immediately felt like a bunch of fire ants were biting me. I washed it off but this morning I had little blisters all over where I put the aloe vera. It really sucks in a great way.

Vinegar takes out the sting.

This is my personal mission in life.

If you get sunburned (or even think you did), take a cold(ish) shower and spray yourself down once or twice with 1/2 white vinegar and 1/2 water out of a spray bottle no later than bedtime. Since I discovered this, I have not blistered, itched or felt the stinging ants again. We always keep a spray bottle of this stuff in the house during the summer time because it works without fail. The worse the sunburn, the more "coats" you should spray.

Vinegar, huh? Seems odd as vinegar is acidic. I'll have to try that next time.

Were you using aloe vera with any additives in it? the stuff with added Vitamin E or the stuff with lidocaine or benzocaine (I think) to "soothe the pain" don't work as well as straight aloe vera. Plus, a lot of people are allergic to the stuff they put in there as a "painkiller" - like my mom - so using it just makes it worse.

Also, it's possible you might actually be allergic to aloe vera.

My advice to you is to drink heavily.

After reading this I went and looked at the bottle. It says "aloe vera cooling gel with therapeutic lavender and menthol for immediate relief". It also says it's hypoallergenic. Yeah, right. I don't think it was the aloe vera. I've been using it since I was a kid with no problems. You may be right about the other stuff in it.
