Waylon Jennings was supposed to have been on that plane that killed Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, the Big Bopper.

Did you know that when Loretta Lynn and her husband went on the road to peddle her first song that they stopped at radio stations to pimp the DJ's to play their music.

Well one of those DJ's just happen to be Waylon Jennings.

I thought the Big Bopper got his seat?

Anyhoo, if you like Waylon you should go listen to Billy Joe Shaver. The man that made Waylon Jennings.

how did he "make" waylon ???

Well, most consider Waylon's breakout album to be 'Honky Tonk Heroes' and Billy Joe wrote or cowrote every song on that album but one. Waylon only cowrote one of the tracks and the other cowriter was BJS.

yeah I think it was something like that. And I do like Billy Joe Shaver. I pretty much like the entire Outlaw genre of country music. Especially Hank Williams Jr's stuff during that time period. OD'ed in Denver, Get back to getting Stoned, Outlaw Women and so on.

OD'd in Denver is one of the bestest songs ever penned. Have you heard Jason Boland cover it? It's awesome.

We started the tour out in Denver Colorado
I made the first one but I did not make the second show
Cause I met this girl there that brought about quite a big change
But I OD'd in Denver and I just can't remember her name
I guess you could say that my love life would not up to par
Too many nights alone had left some permanent scars
She told me she'd love me and I told her I'd do the same
Then I OD'd in Denver and I just can't remember her name
I brought it on myself and I guess that I shouldn't complain
Doc said son you can't do anymore of that cocaine
But she made me higher than all of those expensive things
But I OD'd in Denver and wish I could remember her name

I turned to other things tryin' to make my daydreams real
But they don't take the place of the woman's face and her feels
She treated me nice and I like to find her again
But I OD'd in Denver and I just can't remember her name
I brought it on myself...
Kinda overdid it in Denver and I just can't remember her name

Waylon became the temporary bass player for Holly's band the Crickets, playing with the rock & roller on his final tour. Jennings was also scheduled to fly on the plane ride that ended in Holly's tragic death in early 1959, but he gave up his seat at the last minute to the Big Bopper, who was suffering from a cold.

my annie rolled blues
I danced holes in my shoes

for lovable losers, no account boozers and honkytonk heros like me

Dreaming My Dreams With You

I hope that I won't be that wrong anymore,
And maybe I've learned this time.
I hope that I find what I'm reaching for,
The way that it is in my mind.

Someday I'll get over you.
I'll live to see it all through.
But I'll always miss,
Dreaming my dreams with you.

But I won't let it change me,
Not if I can.
I'd rather believe in love.
And give it away as much as I can,
To those that I'm fondest of.

Someday I'll get over you.
I'll live to see it all through.
But I'll always miss,
Dreaming my dreams with you.

Someday I'll get over you.
I'll live to see it all through.
But I'll always miss,
Dreaming my dreams with you.

I would assume by ****ing his mom. Isn't that the way people are made or have I had this wrong all these years.

A lot of country artists owe their career to somebody else. I don't think George Strait has written one song in his entire life. Niether has the possum. Niether did Elvis.

They all do covers, but there are some song writing musicians in Country as well.

Cash
Willie
Dolly (she's pretty stinking talented)
Hank
Merle
among others...

I was just messing with TDTW. I love Waylon as much as anyone and he did write a bunch of great songs.
