I'm obviously bored today. If you stood in the sideline area behind the south endzone of Owen Field, took a golf ball and a driver, could you hit a golf ball out of Memorial Stadium? I don't know how high the seats go on the north section, and therefore don't know how far you'd have to be able to hit the driver. My physics is a bit rusty.
Ike, calculate the trajectory on that and get back to me. :D

Eye-balling a pic of Owen Field, it looks no more than 150-160 yds from the south end zone to the top of the North seats, but I have no idea how high they are, which changes things a lot.

gotta clear about 175 yards to make it out of the stadium. At least.
plus the seating plus the scoreboard has to be upwards of 120ft.
most drives might clear 200ft at their highest point. you are well over halfway point of the drive therefore the drive will be on the downward descent..
thats my 4th grade education at its finest.

I just dont see a drive getting that high, that far into it.

That's the south end scoreboard. If it was taking from the exact point at the other end, it would give a better idea.

From back of end zone to back of end zone is a 120 yard carry.....probably a 8I-9I for Harry. The stands are what, 50 more yards? That's 170-ish. I bet it could be done by a scratch golfer with a 5W or a 7W.

Exactly. Hitting it that far might not be the problem. IT's getting it high enough to clear the wall. I say no way.

The height early on isn't a problem, neither is the overall distance.....both of them together would take a poke but I bet it could be done.

well, Im not about to waste my time working this up, but suffice it to say that with the way I hit a driver (high and long, and usually with a slice), I could easily get it out of the stadium.....most likely with a riccochet off the press-box.
