So I bought The Sporting News' pro football preview the other day, & towards the back of the book they have a 2007 draft preview, with the players separated by position. Rufus is listed as the # 2 INSIDE linebacker in the nation behind Willis @ Ole Miss. The fact that he's listed at the wrong position takes a backseat to following gem though. After each player, there is short comment. Their blurb on Rufus:

"Speedy 'backer with good awareness, BUT ISN'T AGRESSIVE ENOUGH. "

if he played the same way at usc that he plays at OU, then he would be aggressive enough

don't you know that Sporting News is only concerned with Notre Dame?

TSN is obsessed over St Louis teams, since that's where they're from.

TSN also picked the Astros to have the best bullpen in the league this year.

Yeah, he is to mellow, AD runs to straight-up, Birdine doesn't talk enough, and Stoops shows no passion. TSN=The Sporting Nitwits.

I'm just curious. Who wrote that Rufus isn't agressive enough?

Hmmm...102 tackles (17 for loss), 5 sacks, 2 fumbles forced, 1 fumble recovered, 1 inteception, and 9 passes defenses is not aggressive enough? Hey, some corners don't break up nine passes in a season...we're talking about a linebacker here. Not aggressive enough? The dude is always all over the f'n field - run stopping, blitzing, covering! He does everything and does it very well.

Stupid. Sporting News' reporting isn't worth a ball hair.

I bet it was Matt Hayes who said it.

I bet that guy from Tulsa that he almost killed last year wishes he wasn't aggressive enough

I think he said not agressive enough in reference to Rufus not willing to take on blocks very often, sometimes he runs around them. Come on guys, dont be so angry ;)

Oh, I get it. He can't be blocked consistently, so he's "not aggressive enough." I can live with that. :D

Godfather, it just says "War Room Scouts." No names listed.

Oh, BTW, I forgot the REAL prize in all this. Their top 10 RB's:

1. Michael Bush, Louisville
2. Tyrone Moss, Miami
3. Kenny Irons, Auburn
4. DeShawn Wynn, Florida
5. Lorenzo Booker, FSU
6. Kenneth Darby, Alabama
7. Courtney Lewis, A&M
8. Tony Hunt, Penn St.
9. Germaine Race, Pitt St.
10. Dwayne Wright, Fresno St.

As you can see, no AD listed, & plain as day, there's a note at the top of the page denoting that an asterisk indicates a 2006 junior, so they ARE included among their chosen players.
