Is anyone on here a football official? I was thinking about being one for Jr. High games this upcoming season.

I did intramurals at OU and did one season for OSSAA when I got out of OU. Then I started travelling for work and had to give it up.

You want to use the big whistle...don't you? :)

Did you like it? I think it would be fun. And yes, I would give the home team favorable calls and would take bribes. ;)

What about Basketball. The NBA could use you.

they'd hate me. I know what a travelling violation is and would call it but would never ever call a flagrant foul.

no blood= no foul

How are you on calling balls and strikes? On second thought, don't answer that.

Don't do it.

From my observations of Big12 Football, being a ref can cause blindness and maybe even retardation!

I think reffing is like substitute teachers, they always need them.

I thought about doing it several years ago, even went so far as contacting OSSSAA. But then I started coaching little league baseball so dropped it.

1TC, contact the league in your area. Your city/town should be able to give you their contact info. There is usually a class you have to take before they will hire you. Most of the refs start out working the games for the younger kids. It may take a year or two to work up to the older kids.
Oh, and good luck with the parents. :)
