There are basically two types: Ones that run a minature version of
Microsoft Windows, and ones that don't. I think you want one of the
ones running windows. Do you already have a cell company you use for service?

Looks like Cingular has the Blackberries, Treos, and HP iPAQs; they use Motorola phones, you might ask them if they'll be getting the Motorola Q anytime soon.

It sounds like what you are looking for is a PDA cell phone. Many companies make PDA cell phones -- RIM (Blackberry), HP, Nokia, Palm, Samsung, and a lot of others.

Almost all PDAs run one of two operating systems -- Windows or Palm. Assuming you want your people to have equipment compatible with the systems they use in the office, I would guess Windows is the right OS for you. Almost any wireless phone store should have several models to choose from.

i have an older Blackberry... it's great for email, calendar and contacts but the internet stuff is kinda lame

i haven't tried the EDGE wireless version yet, but it might be better

Civilized airports, hotels and even flippin' Starbucks have wireless innerweb. Just tell your people to bring their laptops along and check in periodically (i.e. morning, noon and night.) Whats so durn difficult about that?

I think they're trying to dodge you. Methinks buying 'spensive new hardware won't make any difference.

I suggest firing all their sorry butts and getting new peeps who will check-in with the mother ship a few times a day.

I'm typing this on Treo 650 on my way back to Tulsa from Houston. It works well for a palm based machine, the Cingular 8125 is awesome and runs Win Mobile 5, it also has Wi-Fi. I was going to get it but its 550 without a contract & I got my 650 for 199 w/o contract from work. The Q looks like it has a tiny tiny screen, plus its made by motorola. :winkie:

HEh. Personally, I like having a separate phone and PDA. And neither of them have wireless web service. Sometimes I like it when other people can't get in touch with me. Of course, I'm one of the crazy people at OU that actually turn their phones completely off when they go to classes. ;)

The treo is awesome I have the old 650 my non techie mother even loves hers. Its awesome we can download our outlook and calender and never have to flip open a book again.

Yep you can get an unlimited internet access for like 50 bucks at cingular.
