think they are doing a great job. Wish I could give myself a payraise.

Pay for them ought to be determined by the people somehow.

I won't begrudge somebody a 2% COLA. We pay union shops that all the time - and they're as bad, or worse than these scumbuckets.

And I wouldn't do their job for all the $$ in D.C. And be the POTUS for 400K? Yeah, right.

term limits!

We already have them, they're called elections. Too bad voters are stupid.

Politicians are a bunch of good-for-nothing liars, crooks, and *********s...except the for the guy I voted for.

I met a congressman from California named Honda at a reception the other day. I think his first name was Joe, nice guy.

term limits!Exactly! Most of the polititians know very good and well that the people want term limits. Their agendas however, are of a personal nature first, as opposed to representing our beliefs.

I agree that the voters most certainly do need to pay closer attention. The percentage of people who even take the time to vote is shockingly low.

After polititians have been in office about 2 or 3 terms its hard to get them out. By then, the special interest groups with the big bucks have them in their pockets and are funding their campaigns. The more campaign money you raise, the better your chances are to be re-elected.

Slickdawg in 08 - salaries for elected officials

Senators - The mean annual income for their state
Congressmen - The mean annual income for their state
VP & Prez - The mean annual income for the US

Furthermore, lobbyists will be abolished.

Half of all Senators and Representatives should make more than the President? Why should the Vice President and President make the same amount?

This is all pointless, anyway. Salary is largely irrelevant to a politician at the national level.

Eggzactly. Most represenatatives are already extremely well off, and
income from the gubbamint is just lagniappe for them.

The retirement plan for them should also be identical to what it is for the
average american.

Congress deserves to be paid part time minimum wages..because well, they work part time and only do things that deserve minimum wages...and by minimum wages I mean sweatshop wages.
