Of course not. But that doesn't mean that if you're a dumb hack website you can't stop from trying!

http://www.coachratings.com/view_ratings_football.jsp

Granted, this is more of a "Coaching Experience" rating, but seeing guys like Beamer, Sherril, and Gary Barnett ahead of Stoops is dumb.

That's a buckeye site. What a crock.

Here are the criteria

Some factors to consider when choosing a coach include:

Does the coach care about your life outside of sports?
Does the coach emphasize receiving a degree?
Does the coach help you achieve academic goals?
What is the coach like on the field?
How does the coach treat the athletes?
Does the coach treat all the athletes the same?
Is the coach highly recommended by other athletes?

Does the coach win f'n games is not on the list. So relax.

Guys, think about it. This is self-reporting, players who have played over the last five years. It isn't uniform. Only 15 have volunteered to give their opinion of Stoops. If this thing is new, it'll take it awhile to get a real sample. Anyone with a rudimentary understading of statistics wouldn't consider 15 of over a possible 100-150 different players over a five year period to be representative.

Another problem with this poll is going to be not disclosing the playing experience of the self-reporting people. I'd bet 75% of negative responses came from guys who transferred out of a program, or who were not good enough to start.

So you're saying John Blake is the ultimate coach according to those criteria?

If you look at the basketball coaches, Quin Snyder has a 10.

I'm just sayin.

Yea, I know.

It still seems like a dumb rating system.

Bobby:

1. Coach was interested in my personal life 2.8 (Who gives a crap?)

3. It was either coach’s way or the highway 4.2 (The way it should be)

6. Coach would embarrass players publicly that didn’t perform 2.6 (makes em better)

The best phrase describing Coach is: Mentor/Role Model: 20.0%
Well Respected: 46.7%
Assertive: 13.3%
Drill Sergeant: 13.3%
Corrupt: 6.7% Moe?

The wake forest and wyoming coach are ahead of stoops, irrelevant. The only coaches that could be even considered in any way on the level or better than Stoops are Carroll, Tressel, and thats pretty much it

Ron Turner is an 8. He only had like 2 winning seasons. He must be nice.

So basically this poll just proves that Bob doesn't have as big a mangina as some of the other coaches in college football. Duh.

Honestly. I'm not as interested in him now that we have Bob Stoops Jr. at DC. Check back with me next year if Chizik bolts.

Well, that site lost all its credibility when it ranked Gary Barnett ahead of Stoops. And I just noticed they also have such schlubs as Joe Glenn, Lloyd Carr, Sonny Lubick, Jackie Sherrill and Chuck Amato ahead of Stoops. In other words, their entire ranking system is a total joke.

Psst, Flagstaff -- the Horn was complimenting our coach, yo.

And, agreed, Cap.

Dunno why Flag got so grumpy with ya ;)

If Barnett is on the list then 1 of those qualifications has to be:

Does the coach provide skank hookers to escort visiting recruits or at least free passes to sleezy strip joints and plenty of illegal refreshment?

i'd like to welcome Luthor back to sf.com. the "friendly" horn poster who makes fun of Jason White's knee injuries at hornfans. ha ha.

Tressell? Isn't he the same guy that developed the character of Maruice Clarett? Obviously, young kids make mistakes, but the Clarett situation falls out of that realm. Top coaches in college:

Stoops
The guy at Purdue
Brown
Mangino (Wimpy)
Leach
The fatso at Notre Dame will probably make the list
Chizik - he is the candidate for the next big job
Meyer?
Carroll - unless his bag of bling is taken by the NCAA
Tuberville

Wow, funky, that list is pretty...bad.

Let's play that old game "One of these things isn't like the other"

Best coaches:
Stoops -Won NC
Carrol - Won NC
Beamer - Played in a NC
Bowden - Won NC
Paterno -Won NC
Spurrier - Won NC
Tressel- Won NC
Tuberville - Undefeated in the SEC
Brown - Won NC
Fulmer - Won NC
Weis - Showing great potential.
Richkt/Meyer - Debateable if they're up in the top tier

Mangino - Won the Houston Bowl
Leach - Won the Holiday Bowl
Tiller - won the Alamo Bowl
Kragthorpe - Won the Liberty Bowl

Those last 4 guys aren't close to the rest of the group.

And a couple years ago Tulsa won 2 games in two years. He turned them around. You got to be a hell of a good football coach to get Tulsa to win the conference and a bowlgame. I'm not saying he's the best, but just cause he coaches at a bad football school dosen't mean he's not up towards the top of the list.
