Speaking of Bocephus, I thought the fall off the mountain effed with his eyes more than this. Wonder if he's had a lot of reconstructive surgery recently.

You consider the group "Alabama" to be classic????? I like a lot of their songs but I don't regard them as classic.

IMO, classic is Hank, Lefty, Patsy, ET, Buck, Merle, Ray, two other guys named Hank, Bob, and of course, Willie.

Classic country for me would be everyone you mentioned, plus Waylon and Kenny Rogers.

Bob Wills is still the king (of country music) though.

There's a new classic country station in Dallas. It's awesome, except that it's on the AM dial.

I now officially love SBSB and reserve the right over all other South Ovalites to make her wife #3 if #2 ever leaves. That is all.

Down in Alabama, they call me "The Man of Joy."I bought his last CD the other night. It is freakin awesome. He was so sick when he recorded it, but you can't tell. If anything, his voice was stronger.

Man, I grew up listening to Waylon. Since we was po', our only vacations were to relatives homes in Tulsa or Houston. We'd pile into whatever big-*ss American company car my dad had at the time and he'd pop 8 track tapes of Waylon in for the drive. Good times, looking out the window and listening to Waylon as a child.

Waylon was just a bada$$.

A for real, live, bada$$ hillbilly.

I saw Waylon play about a year before he died. He groped his wife on stage. That is a superstar.

Yeah, I consider Waylon, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, George Jones, and the like to be real country music. Not slick at all. Just singing about life and time and such.

Waylon shoulda been my stepdaddy. My momma just never was in the right place at the right time and Jessi got to him first.

Ladies Love Outlaws
(Lee Clayton)

Bessie was a lovely child from west Tennessee
Leroy was an outlaw wild as a mink
One day she saw him starin’ and it chilled her to the bone
And she knew she had to see that look on a child of her own.

‘Cause ladies love outlaws like babies love stray dogs
Ladies touch babies like a banker touches gold
And outlaws touch the ladies
Somewhere deep down in their soul.

Linda was a lady blonde and built to last
Benny was a no good guitar picker runnin’ from his past
She heard all of his songs tellin’ nothin’ but bad news
But she made her mind up to try to get him win or lose.

Ladies love outlaws like babies love stray dogs
Ladies touch babies like a banker touches gold
And outlaws touch the ladies
Somewhere deep down in their soul.

Jessi like the Cadillacs and diamonds on her hands
Waymore had a reputation as a ladies’ man
Late one night a light of love finally gave a sign
Jessi parked her Cadillac and took her place in line.

‘Cause ladies love outlaws like babies love stray dogs
Ladies touch babies like a banker touches gold
And outlaws touch the ladies
Somewhere deep down in their soul.

Ladies love outlaws like babies love stray dogs
Ladies touch babies like a banker touches gold
And outlaws touch the ladies
Somewhere deep down in their soul

You'd like Neko Case, then. That is, if you like female singers.
