my gf is dragging me across country for two weeks for her sister's wedding.
you guys can use this thread to keep me up to date on the SO goings on ;)
i'll be in all of these places at one point or another, some of them twice:
Kansas City
Chicago
Philadelphia
Washington, DC
other than KC i haven't been to any of these places, i could use some guidance if you have it :D
where is a good place for a real Philly Cheesesteak? Chicago Pizza?
i think we will probably only end up at The Mall in DC, we don't have much free time there.

Chicago pizza - Uno's. Depending on when you get there, you'll probably have to drink a few beers before you get seated.
I'm going back to Chi-town on bidness in July. Can't wait.
If you want a killer steak, hit Smith and Wollensky's downtown.

Last summer, with a group we had dinner in the kitchen. Awesome!
Enjoy!

Frontera Grill in Chicago. ;-)
I went to Chicago my senior year of HS. I dont remember where exactly we went, though, so I cant really help you. The only thing I remember is the Miracle Mile. It was on the 1 year anniversary of the war in Iraq, and there was about 2/3 of the Chicago PD out, in full body armor and all that. It was pretty awesome.
Youre welcome.

In Chicago I'd look for a Giordano's Pizza, but that's me. In Philly you want that place that requires people to order in English. :D If you're going to KC you want barbeque, even though Memphis-style pwns KC-style BBQ.

dude, i'd tell you to you need to form a fellowship for this sort of thing, but then we'd get into a big argument over who gets arrows and who gets swords. and we just don't want that sort of problem

WTF man, are you taking Amtrack to Philly or something? Scared of flying? Too cheap to drive it? Afraid of Greyhound? Two weeks seems like a lotta time to attend a flippin' weddin'.;)

I haven't been here, but I saw a special on it on the Food Network.

I second the Giordiano's recommendation. It's on Rush St. across from the Rosebud (also very good).
Philly is the dirtiest, nastiest city I have ever visited, and I have been to New Orleans' French Quarter. That being said though, search on this site for Philly and you will get some results from when I went last year.

If you are taking the train do you arrive in DC at Union Station? If so, there's a few things to do/see there.
Then you'd just hop onto the Metro and head down towards Capitol area.

if you get bored you can go across the river from Philadelphia to Camden, NJ. There's a REALLY awesome aquarium there, and you'll probably get to see some fist-fighting high school girls beating the sh*t out of each other on street corners.

Police get all the fun when they get to teargas and billy club hippies.
I wish they'd contract that kind of work out to organizations like mine.

We had to leave before any riots or anything. :(
Me and a couple friends approached some of the officers, and said something along the lines of 'Can we take a picture with yall? We dont get to see this very often, we're from Houston!'
And they said 'Oh, I'm sorry.' :D

People are always out protesting something in Chicago. I went up to audition at Northwestern a few years back and you couldn't move for hippies all over the streets. Although on the plus side, it made getting lunch easy - you know, with all the no-money-having hippies clogging everything up us actual paying customers got treated like royalty. ;)
