In 1997 my little brother, an OU grad and huge OU fan, passed away as a result of stomach cancer. He was only 31. When we began the diffucult task of going through his things at his house we noticed there was something missing. He had received an antique marble from my Mom's elderly uncle when he was 9 or 10 years old. It was a big marble about 1" in diameter and made of clear glass with a gold number 1 inside it. It was very, very old............like close to 150 years old! Its been passed down in the family for a while. Its worth a lot of money but is even more sentimental. After looking through my brother's things the marble was nowhere to be found. I asked all his friends about it and nobody knew a thing. We looked and looked but the marble was apparently gone forever. Well.................this morning Dad called and said he had something for me. I asked what it was but he wouldn't tell me. Later when I went to see him guess what he gave me? Yep, the marble. When Dad went out to get the paper early this morning he saw something shiny on the front steps. There was the marble, sitting on a magnolia leaf right in the middle of the top step on Dad's porch! After being gone for nearly 10 years the marble is back. How weird is that??

That's definately freaky, but good news nonetheless.

I have a similar, less freaky story.

My Uncle lost his alumni ring in the Canadian River in the late 70's. About 12 years later a woman called him from Shawnee and asked if he had lost a ring.

He couldn't believe it. She found it a few hundred yards downstream, and began making calls to find the owner of a K-State ring. One of the people she got a hold of knew my Uncle and heard he had lost it. Anyway, he met up with her and treated her to dinner for her efforts...and banged her later that night with the ring on.

note: the last ten words are possibly embellishment

wow, that's a great story that can be passed on down with the marble to the next few generations.
I hope that all beneficiaries of the marble will appreciate it as much you appear to.

My Mom got back tonight from her Uncle's funeral in far south Texas. Dad told her the story. Dad said she cried.

And to think, your Dad has been walking past that spot for 10 years and never looked down before. :D

That is pretty wild. I guess someone else realized that sentimental value trumps any other form of value.
