View Full Version : What's some good reggae music?
My fiance likes it. I've always been pretty much ambivalent about it. Give me some pointers as to what's good and what to avoid please. The only ones I can even think of are UB40 and Bob Marley, and that Jewish guy.

If you can find the Dynamite series (100% Dynamite, 200% Dynamite, etc.) on the British label Souljazz Records, that's the way I'd go. Especially the 300% album. It's the best comp ever!

Black Uhuru, Burning Spear, Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff, Barrington Levi, Ziggy Marley, Bob Marley, and early pre-Cops Inner Circle for starters.
There's also Mad Lion, and Mad Cobra among others. I'll have to dig through my cassettes to give you a few more names.
Snow, a-licky-boom-boom-down.
I don't know if they're good or not, but they play reggae and they're from Tulsa.

Legalize it – don't criticize it
Peter Tosh is a must. Yellowman has some interesting stuff, and throws in a bunch of crap as a bonus. Still, the good stuff makes it worth it.
