And then there's the sex chapter-definitely the one where the subtitle is most applicable, with questions like "can people in wheelchairs still have sex?" and "do the kind of underpants men wear affect their fertility?" The book includes e-mail interactions between the authors, which are sometimes funny. Some of the authors' answers are unsatisfactory and, as a whole, this is much more of a humor book than a health one. The truly curious will find better, more in-depth answers on medical Web sites, but those looking for a good laugh will have some fun with this book.

Absolutely correct. You evolved from a platypus.

Actually, my understanding is that it has to do with the fact that all humans (mammals, in fact) start out as female.

humans don't "start out" as females. actually, every embryo contain both wolffian and mullerian ducts - so, in essence, every human embryo passes a stage where it is potentially hermaphroditic.

in genetics, female can be considered the default sex. the Y chromosome is thought to be nearly void of genetic material. it does contain the SRY gene that codes for factors that cause differentiation of male genitalia. if something goes haywire in this process (or if the SRY region is missing), it is possible to have an XY female.

LMAO @ this thread...but it does make one ponder. Why in the hell do men have nipples. I think nipples where designed to be some kinda pre-historical compass. When nipples get hard..travel east.
