I was flipping stations last night and the blue collar comedy guys were on Leno. I ended up on the computer and not turning Leno off. The blue collar guys were funny, Tim Russert was not, then DLR was on singing...Terrible! He sang "Jump!" with a bluegrass band as backup.

Yes, for about 10 seconds. It was so horribly embarassing I couldn't even watch it. He needs to just let it go.

Saw it. I don't like Jump anyway, but last night's rendition was pretty embarassing.

I saw him when he came to the Thunderbird Wild West Casino. He was jumping around like a coked out crack head. Between songs he would go behind the curtain, take a bump, and come out doing roundhouses and kicks.

BTW, my friend won free tickets to the concert. I would never pay to go see that.

Uh, that was awkward.

I was actually surprised that Dave was able to sing that well after having aged so brutally. I doubt he can still do all the trademark scream stuff he did with Van Halen, but other than that, he sounded okay.

He sure didn't look comfortable out there, though.

the shark jumped DLR for the final time when he released the single "Sensible shoes".

Is it too late to change my Top 3 songs (http://www.soonerfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70852)?

I made it thru 1:36 of that clip. I think I have a pretty high pain tolerance.

What was left of my teenage years just died. Dunno if it was the haircut, the gay body motions or the fact that DLR is doing bluegrass. All I know is that I am old and Eddie Van Halen is in the hospital for a busted gut.

And you probably spent that entire 1:36 wondering, "I survived a heart attack for THIS?" :D

Is it just me, or was he trying to sing it in a cheesy, lounge singerish way?

The problem with it is his voice and stage prescence do NOT fit bluegrass. He needs to get a stool and sit his sashaying butt down. He obviously doesn't know anything about bluegrass so he's just trying to make a buck. If you listen to it without watching it, it's not that bad (if you like bluegrass), but his voice is still a little out of place. If you were to have bluegrass singers hitting their high tenors, it would be pretty good, b/c the band is a pretty good bluegrass band. It's probably killing them musically to have him in front of them, but I'm sure they like the paycheck. There's actually a band out there that does bluegrass versions of rock songs (I've only heard Back in Black), and it was pretty entertaining.

Also, the way he hit's the "up", "tough", and "knows" is pretty painful. The "meeeeeaan" was pretty good. The indian war hoop was pretty funny too...

Hayseed Dixie

Theyre pretty decent musically, but the songs all start sounding the same after a couple of songs. Each one is done the same tempo. Actually, I think the backing band with DLR was Hayseed. It sounded exactly like them.

That is the absolute most normal I have ever seen DLR. I mean, he's wearing like normal clothes, his hair is normal ... I don't know what to think.

One of the comments on the site said that it isn't DLR's album. He's a featued singer on a couple of the songs only.

Eek.

His appearance and mannerisms remind me of Thomas Haden Church's character in Sideways. And I don't mean that in a nice way.

I kinda dug that rendition.

The rendition didn't bother me so much. He just looked like he felt extremely awkward. Kind or reminded me of Steve Martin in 'The Jerk' when Navin was trying to figure out rhythm (before he got happy feet).

he's been that way for years. his brain is fried and his motor skills are on the downward spiral.

poster boy for bad living.
