View Full Version : Holy crikey. Sampson not what I thought at all.

I am certain this has been discussed ad nauseum. But this passage from a column on cnnsi.com really put the nail in Sampson's coffin for me. He's dead to me.
-----------------
During the time he was making many of those 233 impermissible calls, and gaining unfair advantages on recruits -- six of the targets ended up attending Oklahoma -- Sampson was also the president of the National Association of Basketball Coaches. In 2003, he presided over the NABC's Ethics Summit, all the while engaging in unethical practices. How many of his peers were dismayed by the NCAA's revelations, and their former president's ethical hypocrisy?

Sampson, a notoriously hardworking coach, told the NCAA, according to its report, that he "rationalized the calls as attempts to 'out-work' other institutions," although he was well aware of the recruiting rules.

------------------

We are luck to be rid of him. Good guy, great coach, great chapter in OU basketball - but I think we got off easily here.

What does this have to do with us? Our coach is Jeff Capel.

I wouldn't say better. I'd say potentially more successful.

i'll leave that up to the court to decide... that'd be a fun game if it ever happened, heh.

Don't know how serious you are, but it wouldn't be fun at all. As bad as our men's team may be this coming year, they would KILL the ladies.

not like that - i mean, a 3 point contest, a crazy thing like that. you know? a SKILLZ contest, not a "my coach can dunk and your coach can't" contest.

I was talking about the teams, not the coaches.

As for the coaches, yes it would be fun to see that type of contest. But I'd still take Capel over Coale...in a basketball contest that is. ;)

of course. I understand. She was a Sooner once and will someday be Sooner dead!

PROOF:
In essence, she's starting from scratch, especially with a "new" name (she separated from her husband and has dropped "-Schuman" from her once-hyphenated last name) and a new number, 12, on the back of her jersey. (Dales wore 21 in college and in Washington, but deferred to teammate Brooke Wyckoff, who also has worn the number, because she felt Wyckoff deserved it since "she played in the league last year" and is a five-year veteran.)
