He came to talk to my class a few years ago...he forwarded this to one of my former students, who then forwarded it to me.

Looks like a few errors on the home page - 3 year starter? Wow, I did not realize he started in front of Josh and beat Weinke.

Is placeholder considered a starter? When did Chuck Long start calling for a field goal on 1st down?

only under John Blake could Patrick be a starter. He wouldn't have been a starter at East Central.

only under Joe Dickinson could Patrick be a starter. He wouldn't have been a starter at East Central.

Fixed.

true that.

He didn't start under Blake, he relieved Moore, Fuente, and Daniels. Also, I don't think he played a snap at QB in 2000. The highlights of the 1998 UNT game are funny, though. Fletcher to Kabba for a TD. Sad, sad times.

He's ruining the good feelings I had about him for that TCU game.

Dude, that TCU game was a joke. We sat in the freaking drizzle and watched that entire cowflop of a game.

Fletcher broke out on a run in the first half that was great...until his slowness allowed defenders who had been twenty yards away from him to catch up. It was the slowest 50+ yard run I've ever seen.

And, that crazy ending. The interception/fumble/fumble recovery...Jason Freeman's big moment. The prayer of a pass heaved into the end zone for a TD. Jeff Ferguson hits a 40+ yard field goal for the win, then isn't the kicker the next three years because he sucked the rest of the year (drilled one FG attempt into the butt of an OL during the 13-12 loss to Cal...f'n A, dude. If the guy can kick one field goal, we go 6-5 in 1998 instead of 5-6).

Then, the fight on the field after the game. Freakin' weird scene, man, that whole night.

You've got to like the after MNC video clip though. He was fired up that day.

How was there not a flag on the TD pass to Kabba? Our offensive lineman pushed the guy who was rushing Fletcher down from behind, right in front of the ref.

The "Happy Days are Here Again" montage at the end of the replay show was pathetic. It's a fitting reminder of just how low we were back then.

Yeah, why all the hate?

1998 was the worst of three really lousy years of OU football. Was Patrick the answer? Nope. But he did bring a flash of excitement and fun to an otherwise hopeless season.

Who here wishes that Ferguson had hit that field goal against California? A show of hands, please.

Me. Good gracious, how could you want to lose to the fags at Cal. Joe C. was going to fire Blake anyway, 6-5 or 5-6 didn't make a difference.

Also, appendix to the "three year starter" deal. It was Jake Sills who went 3-1 as a starter after Eric Moore was injured during the 1998 Oklahoma State game. It was also Sills who has the holder of PATs in 1998...until he had to start.

Some people just rub others the wrong way. His dealio at the 2000 NC "celebration" at Owen Field was just plain annoying.
