Like the blended aromas of fresh coffee, toast and crisp bacon that hits you when you walk through the door of small "mom and pop" cafe on a cold Saturday morning in the dead of winter.

A baby's laugh.

The purple twilight viewed through almost bare trees on a crystal clear October evening while you smell fireplaces for the first time of the season.

The way those classroom hand-outs used to smell in fourth grade, fresh and cool off the school office mimeograph machine.

The sweaty, self-satisfied feelng you get after a tough work-out.

That letter you get from the finance company extinguishing their lien after they receive your final car payment.

The smell of outboard motor exhaust wafting across a fresh-water lake while you stand waist deep in the cool water with a cold beer in your hand...while peeing.:D

How about it? Anyone else want to contribute?

The smell of a new baseball glove

The smell of bacon early in the morning at my mom's when I have the rare opportunity to sleep in

Memories of a red and white cork at the end of a fishing pole bobbing, then going under the water

My six year old snuggling up against me when I am reading her a bedtime story

Seeing my wife and kids happy

Hurricane-blown tree limbs on Lady Asshat's house

Watching and listening to a flock of Canadian geese flying south after a late fall cold front.

The smell of cigar smoke at Owen field just before kickoff. (probably won't smell that too much again.)

Listening to the drumline prior to the Pride taking the field.

The smell of the fresh cut grass and field paint, the glow of the lights at high school and collegiate stadiums across the country letting you know that football season is finally here.

Holding hands with my wife while walking through the woods.

Neck hugs from my 2 year old son.

Crack of dawn smiles from my 6 month old daughter as she awakens to a new day.

Hearing the first few bars of "Yea Alabama" being cranked out by the Million Dollar band on a crisp autumn afternoon in Tuscaloosa.

Piping hot homemade apple pie.... for breakfast.

A good pee after a looooooooooooong drive.

Hitting a fadeaway jumper over someone half a foot taller than you are.

Watching highlight reels of Walter Payton.

Getting a call from an old friend and it being like you jumped back 15 years in time.

Rainy Sunday afternoons.

Knowing that God truly loves me... despite the fallen flesh in which I am draped.

Driving through the canyons on your way to another campground in the Rockies as you smell the surrounding pines.

The smell of Diesel at truck stops on my way back to Oklahoma. (Weird, I know, but it reminds me of coming home.)

My wife meeting me at work with lunch.

Old school new car smell.

Heh. I was just think of that very same thing yesterday. New cars just smelled different back in the day. It reminded me of my dear old Chevy-drivin Grandpa H; God rest him.

Seeing my wife's face as she opens a gift that surprises and pleases her.

Hearing my dog's tail thump rhythmically against a wall when I come home from work.

Seeing my son smile for the very first time. (I've got a bunch of these "first time your child does x" things already)

Driving home at dusk with the windows down and the radio on, after being outdoors at the lake/playing softball/whatever.

Crash Davis: Well, I believe in the soul, the c***, the p****, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.

If I may take this one step into the gutter, it's when I've been informed that my wife was pregnant.

It's happened twice and that is enough for this lifetime. Still, it's a good thing.

Sitting out on the dock, fishing with my brother as the sun was setting.

Throwing the football with my bro out in some open space while the family was camping, the smell of campfires and dinner in the background.

Turning the horse loose and letting him run to his heart content, and just sitting back for the ride. Feels like flying, with the air rushing past so fast.

Waking up earlier than the sun to make it to the barn early enough, and walking through the fields to get the horses, water and wet grass sticking to my boots, crisp air that makes everything seem alive and wonderful.

Sailing. I dont need to elaborate on that. One of the best things in the world, I believe.

The feeling I get at church when the pastor says something that really really relates to my life, and I feel that little twinge in my heart, knowing that He's there with me.
