View Full Version : Why does crap like this happen?

I'm baching it until next Tuesday. The wife and kids are gone to Kansas seeing an ailing aunt.

I just let our 8 year old cat in for the night and it was obviously sprayed by a skunk.

Why now?

I called the wife and the cat's vaccine is up to date.

Of course, the cat is outside now. Why does this stuff only happen when I'm in charge? Eight years and this cat has been no trouble whatsoever.

I don't think it was a direct hit. I think the cat was in exit mode when it was sprayed.

Seriously, why now? It really makes me look bad.

I mean worse than usual.

Could have been worse....it could have been you that got sprayed.

Give it a bath in tomato juice. Hillbilly lore says tomato juice baths neutralize skunk funk. Note: I cannot vouch for this remedy's effectiveness. You may just end up with a p1ssed-off wet cat.

Be sure to save some juice for the Bloody Mary's you'll need to numb the pain from the scratches and cat bites you'll be nursing after said bath.

I've heard about tomato juice but I don't know if it works. I DO, however, know that dish soap and peroxide work....we've used it on our dog. The dish soap breaks down/gets rid of the oil....evidently skunk juice is oil based. I'm not sure what the theory behind the peroxide is but it works.

Giving a cat a bath though.....that's tough sleddin'.

Peroxide on a cat is kind of entertaining even when there is no skunk involved.

I refuse to be known as the guy who gave a cat a bath.

It's obvious to me that the wife had the skunk spray the cat to keep you from bringing assorted sweat-skanks from the local gin mill up to the house for some belly farts. That's one resourceful woman you've got there.
