With all this talk about the Macs and Ipods I was wondering what everyone uses to protect their Ipods. I use one of these for my 30G-

I've dropped it a few times and it protects it really well.

Aluminum case from Innopocket for my 60G video -- best investment I ever made. Form-fitting, indestructible, easily removed when you want to sync or use the sound dock. Highly recommended.

I've got scuba skins...leather cases...all that junk.

And all they do is get in my way because of how much I use the thing. Going from my bag to my car/FM transmitter to the dock - it's a hassle when you have to take the case(s) and stuff off all the danged time. I haven't found one yet that I can put on and leave on.

Gah.

Yea, I don't have a dock for mine so I was wondering if you had to remove the skin to mount it. It's amazing how many different skins they have on the market now and they have'nt solved that problem yet.

thin layer of cotton fabric and denim on one side, thin layer of cotton and my rock hard thigh on the other.

I just put it in my pocket and don't worry about it.

I have a silicon one and a clear plastic one, but I don't really like 'em.

I use this when I'm working in the yard: http://www.discountipodgear.com/pictures/F8E534APL.jpg

I wanted something thin enough to not get in the way but protective enough for when I drop my 30GB. Haven't dropped it yet, but this seems robust enough to protect against scratches and little things. Armband's nice and you can still use the clickwheel with this thing on. I put it on once and haven't taken it off yet. It's also got a hole in the bottom so you can dock it while the case is still on. No need to ever take it off.

I don't think there's a skin or case made that doesn't have to be removed from time to time, unless you never use a dock. That's why I like the Innopocket -- you can take it off or put it on in a flash.

I do not receive a commission from Innopocket. :)

Mostly, though, I just wear this shirt when I want to listen to some tunes:

I use this one:

Neoprene sleeve, has a clip on the back, all the outlets are easily accessible while the case is on.

Of course, I don't use a dock, and the cigarette lighter outlet in my car doesn't work, so I don't use it in my car either.

Oh, but I did give my dad one of the innopocket cases for his Palm Tungsten E - very slick case.

There is one for the nano that has a thin protective case that goes on the ipod then a slightly bigger case that it goes in that also has storage for headphones and stuff. If I could find one of those for the 5g I'd possibly buy it. Right now I just use the case that came with it. it's pretty scratched.

I dropped quite a few bucks on cases before I realized that there wasn't one I could just put on and be done with it. And some of them are reeeeally hard to get on and off. The scuba ones are brutal.

I left the protective plastic thingie on the click wheel for I know 4 months before I took it off. I didn't want any scratches on my precious. Now it's pretty scratched-up.

But it still RMFO...

no skin on mine. i put it in the zipper pocket in my purse and in the car it sits in a cradle. no dock, so i just use the headphones at home and at the office.

I've noticed that Best Buy and Target are both trying to clear out their 4g cases. You can pick most up for less than $10.

Ok, I just bought this at lunch:

Clicky no picy (http://www.marware.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/Marware.woa/5/wa/selectedCategory?catalogCatID=206&wosid=9yMPEQJlFHXv7bZNLL9nWw)

It sucks some serious ***. I'm going to take it back as soon as I can. It LOOKS like what I described above, but it isn't. The form fitting case actually connects to the hard cover (it's not another case, it's just a cover), so it's a pain in the *** to remove the small case from the larger one. Also, the clip doesn't go sideways. I'm too fat to have that ipod poking into my gut. The only good thing is it has a flap on the bottom so you can hook your ipod to the usb without removing it. I doubt that would work with a dock though.

Anyway, I give it two thumbs way down.
