I watched the "Welcome Back, Kotter" six-episode DVD today and that got me to thinking: Who's your favorite Sweathog?

Mine would have to be Horshack, I think he was the funniest one of the four (or five, if you include Beau in the last season, or six, you could make a case for Gabe because he, too, was a Sweathog). I could also relate to Horshack, because, like Horshack, I was sort of "grudingly accepted" by my peers during my school days and was sort of the whipping boy at times but I eventually earned the respect I was seeking. And, even around my office these days, I consider myself more of a Horshack type.

I dunno, Gabe looked pretty sex in those double knit slacks himself.

Tom Jones did a great job on the theme song.

I tried to find some pics of the one girl that posed for Playboy but I couldn't. Probably a good thing.

The show jumped the shark when they added Beau.

And Epstein was the best because he had 'the walk'. To get away with walking like that meant you were a bad bad man.

Hotsy Totsy posed for Playboy?

Marcia Strassman, who played Julie (Mr. Kotter's wife) did Playboy in the 1970s, but I've been unable to locate the pics online. The pics I did find of her from the 70s and early 80s, though, are quite nice, hairstyles notwithstanding.

The first time I rode a subway in NY I kept thinking of WB Kotter. And Horshack was the best.

Melonie Haller - Posed for a pictorial titled 'Welcome Back Haller' back in 3/1980. I forget her character's name.

Her character was Angie Globagoski. She has no acting credits after Kotter. (per IMDB.com)
