They have this new-fangled thing down here. Instead of a coin-fed meter at each parking space, there are a pillars or kiosks at regular intervals along the block. You pay a machine in this pillar by cash or credit card, and it spits out a ticket that you put on your dashboard. It's handy if you don't usually carry 10 quarters in your pocket. (Of course, like many things in the Formerly Big and Now Not So Easy, they don't all work properly.)
That is all.

It also seems that today is the anniversary of Carl Magee's parking meter patent in 1938.

I bet it's a Rhino meter and we have a few here in Tulsa as well.

They replaced some of OKC's meters with those as well.

Besides them being broken for a two week period or so, they work pretty well. Although I wish it had a knob for you to turn, just 'cuz. It's like slot machines -- yeah, they're automated and all but it's just tradition! :mack:

Oh, she still has a job. If your dashboard ticket is expired, she writes you up. Not many lovely meter maids in this town though. Plus they be MEAN!
