Let me be the first to play the.. this is gonna succ bad, catastrophically bad card on the "new" James Bond.

Sean Connery, as the only, real James Bond, would NEVER do a remake. There is only one, Casino Royale.

Rest in peace Bond. We knew you well.

Another thread about how crappy Hollywood is, how bereft of original ideas. Maybe, just maybe you can forgive the cheesy modern send-ups of Scooby, the Addams Family, and Josie and the *****cats...but this? Hey, Hollywood cokeheads, why not just remake Gone With The Wind and Casa Blanca? Or, why not bastardize Eastwood's Man With No Name line of films with your new, crappy actors and actresses?

Hollywood is a suck.

I beg to suggest that Pierced Brosnan was even more suckier than Dalton. Brosnan was the nadir of the sissy Bonds. The new woman M (Judy Dench?) was more manly than Brosnan. I wanted to take baseball bat (or maybe a cricket bat) to his stupid smirky mouth. Good riddance !

It's gonna stick to the book. They're doing a "reboot" of the series, like what they did with Batman Begins. They'll pay some lip service to some of the established continuity, such as Dame Judi Dench reprising M, but other than that this starts the series anew. Bond accepts his "00" status in the pre-credit sequence, and this is his first mission after becoming a 00 agent.

I just wish that worthless f*ckhole Kevin McClory would let EON use Blofeld and S.P.E.C.T.R.E. again. The series really suffers when you don't have ONE big bad guy to take on...plus Ernst Stavro Blofeld is just a bad *ss. :D

Trouble with Dr. No is, of all the Connery movies, it looks the most dated now. It's a little long-ish for the story and it's kinda slow in parts. I was trying to point BSG to one that had a better feel to it/appeal to casual fans.

I don't think Goldfinger worked for SPECTRE anyway, did he? I thought he was a solo.

I'm most curious to see what Bond will be drinking in this flick. He wasn't drinking a "medium dry vodka martini...shaken, not stirred" yet in Casino Royale. In fact, he creates a drink and names it after the girl in the book, Vesper Lynd. I'm too lazy to look up what all goes into the Vesper, but Fleming actually gives the complete recipe...:D

From Russia With Love is far and away my favorite, but it is best watched later in the series, after you dip into the awful Moore years. This allows you to appreciate the truly unique features of Connery doing a great job in a great story.

Goldfinger is amazing, and be sure to notice the musical cues in the score that you might recognize from the song "Six Underground" by the Sneaker Pimps.

I personally hated Diamonds Are Forever, but most people love that one, so that's good.

Thunderball is slow in parts, but it's a great story with some great locations and underwater work.

You Only Live Twice is great and more action-y than some of the other early films, which rocks.

Fleming was also great about going into ridiculous detail about other stuff, like Bond's wardrobe: Lots of Sea Island cotton shirts, I think. And when Bond needed to get in top physical condition, he cut back to 10 custom-made cigarettes per day. :D

The Vesper IS the the medium dry vodka martini that Bond invents in Casino Royale. I don't know why I thought it was something different...

The Vesper:
3 ounces gin
1 ounce vodka
½ ounce Lillet blonde
Shake ingredients with ice in a cocktail shaker and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a slice of lemon peel

I haven't seen a James Bond film probably since the mid 70s, but I'd like to see this one when it comes out in DVD.

I remember going to the cinema to see "Diamonds are Forever" and "Live and Let Die" when I was a kid. They made me happy in my pants when I didn't even know what that meant. Yeah, most of these old movies are so dated now, but James Bond was the height of coolness and sophistication back then for a kid from Madill.

My third favourite Bond film is the “Man with a Golden Gun” and that’s only because it was filmed in Hong Kong and Thailand. Bottoms Up in Hong Kong was my first topless bar, so happy in pants feeling all over again thanks to the James Bond coolness and sophistication.

And, there is the canal chase scene in Bangkok and the thumbnail island landing scene in Krabbi province (close, but not actually Phuket). Yeah, I said Krabbi!

Coolness and sophistication. I’m glad they brought the franchise back. Did James Bond go into any topless joints this time?

I thought it was pretty good, much more edgy than most of the later Bond movies. I liked most of the Roger Moore ones, I just saw them as something different from the Connery ones. I think he did a pretty good job moving from The Saint TV series (now on BBC America (http://www.bbcamerica.com/content/181/index.jsp)) into the Bond role at that time so it was pretty much a natural transition for him and the series but I think some of the screenplays were more the problem than Moore himself.

I had no problem with them going to the Lotus cars back then, even as an Aston fan their cars just were not really "Bond worthy" at that point.

the only part for me that was iffy is when they both pulled off the long jump to the lower crane. otherwise it could happen. I've jumped through many windows and landed on my feet.:D

Exactly the part I was talking about.:D

And I've seen video of a guy jumping out of one plane and climbing into another one. There are some crazy people out there.

Vesper was freaking hot.

Tap the brakes Sic!

She was cute.. attractive perhaps, but her character and her characterization of that role had no deadly elegance, no grace.. she lacked a certain intangible quality.

I'm not referring to her acting, just her looks. She's got that cute soft look which I find highly arousing. I'd say she has a somewhat innocent look, but I did a google search. :D

I'm think she did basically a soft core porn type movie where she was nekkid through about half of it. I have no idea what it was called and haven't seen it so I'm just going off of what someone else said.

She was supposed to be an accountant who was blackmailed into betraying her government. Deadly elegance wasn't something I'd expect.

I've known too many accountants.

I'm a fan of the Bond movies and this is one of the better Bond films ever. But the Bond is a little too unemotional at times. I would put this up there with The Spy Who Loved Me, Dr No, and

Conery is still the best with From Russia With Love and Goldfinger. Goldeneye was the last great Bond film before Royale.

I'd like it noted for the record that my c*ck is NOT intangible.

Upon further review....

If Craig holds true to his characterization of Bond in additional movies..he has the potential to live up to, if not, surpass, the gold standard of Bonds... Sean Connery.

This is quite likely the first non-dumb thing that you've ever said. Congrats. You finally found a way to not Tejas something up. And, (...hang on, I'm going to have to wash my hands as soon as I type this...) I even agree with you.

odkay, I bought the official DVD and watch it already.

One of the best bond movies yet, I agree.

But that new bond guy has a huge hooker nose. But, that's okay because it gets beat up most of the time and when he smiles, it is like he's pretty insane and that part looks realistic.

I never quite got the torture chair thingy. I just guess it implies that it has two big pairs. Not sharks or lazer splitting him in half, but it still made me more than a bit uncomfortable.

The girl thang had a pretty good twist. I was thinking, girlfriend, you don't go making yourself too easy now, wait nearer to the credits.

Overall pretty good flick.

I saw a few posts on this thread that questioned the validity of the crane jump.

It was real. Of COURSE they were wearing harnesses and stuff, but it, and the fight on the crane, 200' up, was real. Watch the DVD's special features.

whoa, I'll have to check that out. It didn't look like it was a blue screened but I thought perhaps they were tied in or something. looks painful either way.

now the part that was iffy is when he was poisoned, nearly died and then went back and all was normal. I think he'd at least need a nap or something.:)
