One of my employees is Polish-American and he wears his ethnicity on his sleeve. He's both proud to be Polish and resentful of the bad name Polish people have received. True to form, he's from Northern Ohio and from a blue collar Catholic background, and he brings back these wonderful desserts and sausages and pirroges from a real Polish grocery whenever he ventures home. He always jokes about how if anyone needs any heavy lifting, they call on the Poles because they have strong backs. Great guy.
