Robertson: God Says Tsunami Possible For U.S. (http://www.wftv.com/news/9235304/detail.html)
POSTED: 9:19 pm EDT May 17, 2006

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The Rev. Pat Robertson says God has told him that storms and possibly a tsunami will hit America's coastline this year.

The founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network has told viewers of "The 700 Club" that the revelations came to him during his annual personal prayer retreat in January.

"If I heard the Lord right about 2006, the coasts of America will be lashed by storms," Robertson said May 8.

He added specifics in Wednesday's show.

"There well may be something as bad as a tsunami in the Pacific Northwest," he said.

Robertson has come under intense criticism in recent months for suggesting that U.S. agents should assassinate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's stroke was divine retribution for Israel's pullout from the Gaza Strip.

Can we just lock him in a prayer tower and hang a sign on the door that says "Do Not Disturb...Unless You Are 900 Foot Jesus. In Which Case, He's Right In There...Knock Yourself Out, Lord."?

Tuba, Tuba, Tuba...

Not to thread hijack but I'm determined to pull you away from that dastardly neo-conservative wing and bring you home to the paleo-conservative/Pat Buchanan school of thought.

You can't just go around assasinating leaders no matter how insane they are, no matter how much they publically slam these United States, and no matter how much it would make us feel REALLY good to do so.

First, he doesn't really present a major national security thread unless he cuts his oil exports to us and he isn't going to do that becuase he needs that revenue in order to retain his popularity at home. Nor should we be in the business of assasinating foreign leaders unless and until they pose a major security threat.

Second, we'd only be creating another freaking marxist hero in a region that already has too many. Unless you want to see t-shirts with Chavez's face on them next to Che's for the next 100 years then you'd better just leave him be as a rather annoying thorn in our side.

Third, the fallout from assasinating a foreign leader that poses very little risk to our security around the world but especially in latin America would simply be horrific. Whoever takes Chavez's place is probably going to be even MORE radical than he is.

What a dunderhead. But he makes me laugh. I seriously wish he would open his mouth more often. Everytime he does, he provides great entertainment and discredits his fundamentalist ilk, to boot.

His ilk is pretty small at this point. I don't know of anyone that claims him.

If he hadn't signed that deal with ABC when he sold his broadcasting company, I doubt he'd still have a show.

Did you just lump Pat Buchanan and Alan Keyes in with Pat Robertson?

Seriously?

Robertson is a nut job, but I'd take a Buchanan/Keyes style "loose cannon" over a faux conservative like Bush any day of the week.

Buchanan isn't even a conservative, but the left thinks he is. He's more economic and physical isolationist than anything else.
One of our Senators from AZ could be thrown in with this silly group, too.

Clearly, Pat's finest hour was when he called for nuclear annihilation of the U.S. State Department.

Just my humble opinion, but I always thought the U.S. should take the lead in global anger by nuking one of its own governmental agencies. Foggy Bottom's got it coming.

Buchanan is exactly what a conservative used to be. I mean since when does conservatism mean (supposedly) small government at home but huge government interventionism abroad?

I've agreed with Pat on domestic issues for a long long time, but I'm really coming around to his way of thinking on foreign policy.

SicEm, Buchanan is about as competent and sane as one of our US Senators from AZ. Yes, I would be forced to vote for him if he got the pub nomination.

I would love to see the dims put up somebody good, but JFK was the last candidate they had who wasn't too bad. I don't mind Lieberman, but what's with him going along with algore's kookism when he was algore's running mate? Besides, Lieberman won't be the dim candidate.

He's one of those that only votes for either the D or the R. In his case, the R. IMO, a pretty lazy way to go about participating in a democracy. And irrseponsible, to boot.

How embarrassing. Poor Pat, he might as well have predicted thunderstorms in Oklahoma this Spring, yet he will most likely get it wrong. Then he says "If I heard right." Are you not sure when God is talking to you, Pat?

I hope GOD does not allow any hurricanes, storms, or tsunamis to hit the east coast this year just so Pat will STFU.

A single rain cloud hits Florida this August and Pat will be saying "See! I told you the Lord warned me! Praise God, amen!!"

I've voted for a few democrats, believe it or not.

DA Bob Macy
Sherrif J.D. Sharp
&....
Well, I think that's it.

I'm actually thinking about voting for Henry for governor and voting a straight republican ticket to the state legislature. There is a democrat from Henryetta in the senate...don't know his name off hand but I like him and hope he stays a long time.

On the federal level, I'm hoping the Republicans keep the house, but I don't care if the RINO's lose the Senate. They deserve to lose.

Hey, wadda know, my wife just handed me an AOL CD we got in the mail as I was typing this post. They make great shooting targets.
