I know she's 20 and all grown up, but take her to feed the ducks anyway.

Truly priceless moments

I just wish Canada's would migrate like they're 'sposed to. Too many little kids feedin' 'em keeps here all year...and massive goose poopage ensues in very inopportune places.

I bet if they did Caddyshack III, Karl would be blowing up geese not gophers.;)

We had some Mallards, but they split after Katrina. They lived, but they left.

My parents live across the street from two ponds. The Canadian geese quit migrating once they realized that kids will feed them year 'round, so the gazebo at the park is covered in goose poop year 'round. My kids find that hilarious for some reason.

So the freaking nasty birds are also democrats? Even more reason to hate the things.

I call those birds at the park "expensive birds" because I was at a park in Muskogee with my girlfriend a few years ago having a picnic and I noticed these birds who looked pretty expensive so I said, "gee do they just let those expensive looking birds roam free?" And after she looked at me like I was a moron she said, "Yes...."

That's the end of my story about expensive birds. Good night and good luck.

Oh, they took over in the last 2-3 years. Between them and Katrina,
all of our good local birds left.

I blame this on NAFTA.

anyone ever see the geese that are nearly ALWAYS somewhere around Baptist Hospital? I lived very close to there and nearly every time I went past I had to wait on geese crossing the street. and they get in NO HURRY. Just waddle down the street while cars from all directions wait. It's nuts.

Geese are freakin' MEAN, yo...

if you think geese are mean, you ought to spend some time around swans.
Lakeland is known as "The City of Swans"
We were gifted by the Queen of England many years ago with a pair and the city fathers thought it would be cool to add to the flock.
We now have several hundred at a couple of the 39 lakes within the city and each year they auction off pairs that make it to many of the outlying lakes.
Those things will actually attack you.
One of my buds lives on a lake that wound up with a pair, and they are so mean he keeps an extra fishing rod at a tree near the bank to slap them with when they come charging up the bank at him.

the sad part is that I live north of the closest part of Canada....they compete with ducks constantly up here...the ducks are losing.

All the local geese around now (mid May) were born and raised here. The populations have increased to the extent that the OWDC has opened a special early season hunt in September. These locals don't know how to fly north. Did you know also that geese mate for life?

In fact, she is. Poor baby, the big bad bruise showed up this morning,
she's got a nasty one right where her hand and wrist connect. Fortunately,
she started using her right hand again, so it must be getting better.

Thanks for asking!
