So lemme get this straight - Chavez y Chavez badmouths US, US says no mo planes for you, Chavez y Chavez says - I'll SHOW YOU! I'll take all my planes and GIVE'EM AWAY!

Riiight. Give away the multi-million dollar plane. That'll show us. Give em to a country without access to training, spare parts, and upgrades.

This dude gets crazier by the day.

I thougt the same thing.....doesn't Iran already have F-16's that we sold to the Shaw way back in the day that they can't use because of no training, maintenance or spare parts?

I thought I saw that on 60 Minutes.

If W had the stones, he'd take out Chavez's air force.

We send one aircraft carrier battle group down there and eliminate the problem.

I have a washing machine that they are welcome to. Bought a new one and don't really need the old one.

If the US would legalize cocaine...our relationship would get better. ;)

Iran had F-14s.

But no carrier to land them on?

South Korea was selling F-5A/B's for $100 at one point. They're no F-16 or F-14, but they can still shoot down a jet liner.

Who cares? It ain't as much about the jet, as it is the guy flying. I'd put the bottom of a USAF fighter squadron's scheduling board up against the best Iran's (or Cuba's for that matter) got and it would last maybe 20 seconds from the point they merged.

While the pencil-neck Persian was asking Allah to give him a victory against the infidel, our steely-eyed killer would smoke his arse with an AIM-9 right up the tailpipe...if he bothered to waste a missile. More probably he'd go to the gun and ripe a few through the cockpit just to get to see the inside of the canopy covered in blood.

Iranians and aerial combat go together like 'pokes and Big XII football championships.

Without training and spare parts they'd just be very expensive parade floats.

If we were flying F-5A/B's and they were flying F-22's, it'd be all about the jet (assuming they weren't *totally* incompetent). I mean, cmon ;) If tech gaps didn't matter, we'd all be speaking Russian or Chinese by now.

if the F-5 can get WVR with the F-22, it's a fair fight. especially if the F-5 pilot is experienced.

That's a pretty big if. I expect that an F-5 pilot won't even know he's in a fight with an F-22 until it's far too late to do anything about it, and a reasonably competent F-22 pilot would never let it get WVR in the first place. He can kill without doing so.

So if we don't give him parts for his F-16's he will give them to other countries we won't give parts too. I don't follow his logic on how this hurts America.

It's all really just politics and doesn't amount to much.
Iranian Mig 29's are already superior to the downgraded f-16's they would get.
