Brad Edwards passed away this morning. He helped a lot of people with his, "In Your Corner" segment on KFOR. Sorry to see him go, I felt like I grew up with him.

Edwards suffered an aneurysm and fell into a coma Tuesday after being hospitalized because of a bacterial infection of his heart.

Officials said the newsman, known for his "In Your Corner" segments on KFOR-4, had been diagnosed with endocarditis and vasculitis, which is inflammation of the heart and blood vessels caused by a bacterial infection. Left untreated, the condition is fatal.

Just an hour ago I did a Google news search wondering what his status was. Thats too bad. He was too young to die.

There's probably no way to know for sure but the condition he had is usually caused by dental bacteria which migrates into the blood stream. A damn good reason to floss and gargle with a listerine type mouthwash. Humorist Lewis Gizzard died of the same condition I believe.

I hate this! Having worked with Brad on a few of his In Your Corner segments, I can say that he was one of the most professional and thorough journalists out there. You always knew that Brad was going to do his research and know his background before he even came to the source.

This is a sad, sad day.

He kept people honest. That'll be his legacy. The cry of "I'm gonna call Brad Edwards on you" instilled fear into the hearts of many a shyster, I'm guessing.

Even if you didn't watch KFOR, you knew who Brad Edwards was and what he did. Helluva journalist. Unless you were being investigated by him, you liked him and appreciated his work.

We'll miss ya, Brad.

A while back, I answered my phone to hear his voice on the other end of the line. Scared the crap out of me even though I was confident we had done nothing wrong. We were honest and forthcoming with our facts and he respected that. Thankfully, he was "in our corner" any time my organization was involved in one of his stories.

As many PR people in the area will attest, there aren't a whole lot of journalists like Brad Edwards out there.
