So Chris' surprising boot is already paying off for him.

Also, who the hell is Fuel?

he should do it, the solo careers haven't worked out to well for the other a.i. losers.

I heard about this last night on the news. I wonder why Brett quit? He was a great front man for them. Daughtry did really good when he did one of their songs on AI though, so this should be a good choice for him if he does it.

So they're not some loser band looking to capitalize on his 15 minutes of fame?

They've got a few platinum albums already...

jumping onto a sinking ship is always a good idea.....

(and yes they are looking to capitalize off chris' 15 minutes since theirs ended in 1997)

no, they do pretty well. But yes, they would capitalize on his fame.

Their albums since Sunburn have all done very well. They have sort of faded in the last couple of years after they finished touring for their last album. I think they're probably trying to use Chris to revive their band, while also helping him along in his career. They don't lose much by losing Brett, as Carl wrote most of their lyrics and music anyway. If Daughtry and Carl can come up with a few hits, Fuel could make a comeback with Chris as their lead singer...

Fuel had a couple good songs, but their lead singer had a very distinctive voice. Tough to mimic I would imagine.

Originally from Tennessee (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tennessee), Fuel moved to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harrisburg%2C_Pennsylvania), where they played local Pennsylvania (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pennsylvania) bars and nightclubs. Their first EP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extended_play) Porcelin was released in 1996, and sold well locally, spawning a small radio hit with "Shimmer." The popularity of the EP brought them to the attention of Sony (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony)'s 550 imprint, which released their second EP, Hazelton, the following year.
The band's full length debut, Sunburn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunburn_%28album%29), came out in 1998. "Shimmer" was again included, and almost became a Top 40 hit, while the other singles ("Bittersweet," "Jesus or a Gun," "Sunburn") received some airplay.
After laying low for two and a half years, Fuel came back with their second album, Something Like Human (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Something_Like_Human), in 2000 and scored a Top 40 hit with "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)" (#17), as well as going platinum with the album. A third album, Natural Selection (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_Selection_%28album%29), came out in 2003, and was another big seller.
Fuel released its greatest hits album, The Best of Fuel on December 13, 2005.
On February 7, 2006, Fuel announced through their website that singer Brett Scallions had left the band. The band (now just Carl Bell and Jeff Abercrombie) said that he left on friendly terms. "We will all miss him and we wish him the best", Bell wrote in a letter on their website.
Fuel had already laid down the instrumental tracks for their fourth album and soon started auditioning singers so the band could move forward. Abercrombie and Bell took notice of American Idol (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Idol) contestant Chris Daughtry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Daughtry), after he performed "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)" on the show and the single shot up to the Top 10 download list on iTunes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ITunes) and stayed there for a number of days. This also sparked interest in other Fuel songs, which began to appear the Top 100 download chart on iTunes. On March 3, 2006, judge Randy Jackson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy_Jackson) stated in an interview that Daughtry had been offered the opportunity to become Fuel's new lead singer.[1] (http://www.accesshollywood.com/news/7659307/detail.html) Fuel confirmed their interest on their official website. On May 11, 2006, Abercrombie and Bell appeared on the TV show Extra (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extra_%28TV_series%29) to officially offer Daughtry the job.[2] (http://extratv.warnerbros.com/v2/news/0506/11/1/text.html)

I've seen them live a few times, they put on a great show and Brett was a great front man. A lot of energy on the stage. The last time they came here they played Sweet Home Alabama...as tired as I am of that song, it did actually sound pretty good.

well, it'd be dumb to try to mimic the other dude's voice. he'd have to become a new and integral part of the group--preserve the sound but make it his own as well.

I have been a fan of Fuel's music for a long time, but if they choose Christ Daughtry to be in the band I am sad to say, I will become a former fan. His voice is HORRIBLE, like nails on a chalkboard. Obviously America didn't want him to be the next American Idol, and that should tell the members of Fuel not to choose him. It's not like he came in 2nd either. He came in 4th, for Christ's sake! I, and a LOT of others, can't wait for him to fade quickly into oblivion!

I consider myself a serious Metal head and do own every Fuel Album. The only thing selling out here is every Fuel album and concert with Chris as the Front Man. No way around it dude, whether you like it are not Chris is money in the bank. You couldn't ask for more publicity than the band is getting with this and as a bonus Chris is a perfect fit.

Owning every Fuel album makes you a metal head now?

Fuel had some good stuff, but they're past their prime. Chris would be making a mistake to front a band flirting so hard with hasbeen status.

On the message boards though...there are rumors that his band has been inked to a deal by Sony or some other record label.
