We're going on a two-night camping trip as soon as the kids wake up. The girl is 8.5, the boy 3.5. The wife and I, both 38.

We'll be dining on grilled burgers and smores this evening. Tomorrow's menu includes breakfast burritos, sandwiches, jalepeño brats and a 3.5 lb. monster can of beans that the wife bought yesterday. You should see this thing... I might strap it to the roof.

Lots of hiking, fishing, swimming and playing with rocks and dirt are the scheduled activities.

Have fun at work today, SUCKERS!

We took our son to the zoo for the first time last weekend. He loved it. Camping will come in a few years...

Good lord. I was just about to ask why Pat was surfing boners.com, but this thread pretty much answered that one for me.

He likes boners.

People, please.

While poorly named, Boners.com is just a collection of funny pics.....it's not all boners.

Sheesh, pervs.

Right about now, you're re-packing up the tent and heading home because either one or both of the kids aren't happy sleeping outdoors. ;)

Updates when you get back in, please.

Be sure and pack your blood covered rubber axe for the campfire stories.

Neither have I. While I don't think I would mind the outdoor part, and I could probably deal with the bugs part, I hate waking up feeling all grungy and not being able to shower.

Man, I"m not much of a camper either. My idea of roughing it is staying at a hotel without valet parking.

Camping is awesome! Me and my family go on long camping trips a couple weeks every summer. Camping in Florida, Georgia, New Mexico, Michigan, Washington DC, and lots of other places I cant remember. Some places are better than others. We've camped in woods before, and on beaches, both are fun. Bugs arent so much fun. I'm always inside whenever they start coming out, and threaten people with big sticks if they go in and out too many times.

I know I dont have many years left to do this with my family, but I'll always remember the fires, long games of Uno, poker and risk, fishing, biking, throwing the football with my little bro.

If your kids express an interest, keep doing this with them, they'll always remember it. Who knows, maybe they'll love it enough to want to do it with their families. Lord knows the only reason we go camping is because my grandfather took his family, and they liked it.

Put your tent on a stick for full camping affect.

ahhhh camping. The nasty guard pretty much ruined it for me. First trip to the field as the Commander's driver, I get the back of the humvee cleared out ready to unroll my sleeping bag and I hear a 'thanks 1TC, my last driver never cleaned out the truck for me', I slept on the hood of the humvee that night.

See thats why we were right on the shores of Lake Murray...that way we could just get in the water. no more feeling grungy.

I'm not a big camper type person, but have fun. I will sleep on the lake in a nice boat but thats about as rugged as I get.

That's exactly my biggest problem with camping. I'm a bit OCD and take 2-3 showers a day because I start to feel grungy. I HAVE to have a shower in the morning or I absolutely can't function.

Those of you who never camped as kids really missed out. Sorry, but that is true.

And no, Micco. We stayed all night. The kids slept far better than we did. Something about not being old or something.

Does she come with the shower? If so I may double my number of showers.
