It was definitely stout. Slightly more stout than I like my stouts.

Woman love milk? Gac.

milk of Our Lady?

speaking of Gac fruit, current research shows it to be extremely high in carotenoids - especially lycopene.

Sam Adams has a really good cream stout... however, it's hard to top the true cream stout.

http://www.owenolearys.com/guiness.JPGCream stouts are made with lactose. I'm pretty sure that Guinness isn't a cream stout.

Did it make you want to drop your britches and get randy? If not, it wasn't worth a ****.

no. no it did not.

Then it ain't worth drinking.

For pure drop-your-britches goodness, it's hard to beat about a dozen shots of Mescal. It will make you do things you would never, ever do normally. The one and only time I ever karaoked was after Mescal. The last time I got into a real fist fight was after Mescal. The one and only time I sat on a stage and let about a half-dozen skanky titty dancers rub all over me was after Mescal.

On second thought, don't try any Mescal either.

If it causes people to do those things, the PG's shots of mezcal are on me. Oh, and I'm bringing a camera.

phil, does lactose ferment? I think it doesn't.

Lactose does not ferment. Thus it leaves more flavor instead of converting to alcohol. I've never brewed with it, I would be curious to do so. Milk Stout has lactose too.

Where is this St. Peter's available? I don't recall seeing it. It sounds great!

if you can find it Bert Grant's Imperial Stout is pretty thick. all of Bert Grant's beer are pretty friggin' good. one of the *original* Pac NWest micro-brewers.

Real bad news - Bert Grant is out of business :( Yakima Brewery went under at the end of last year. I loved the Perfect Porter and Scottish Ale.

Bert Grant was one of the pioneers in craft and micro brewing in the early 80's. He died in 2002.

I am not fond of the sweeter, heavier stouts. I like the dry stouts such as Guiness. Boddington's, to me, is similar to Guiness save for the color. It tastes very similar.

not all fermentation processes yield EtOH, so i stand by my cheese comment.

OK, I've seen that before. I'll have to try it out. I like most stouts out there. Guinness gets more hype than I think is warranted but it's a good dry stout. Sierra Nevada stout tasted better to me in the dry category. Sounds like this is a sweeter stout?

Guinness was better 10 years ago than it is now. the newer "femme" curvy bottled product is not worth the money you spend. i used to be a big fan of Sierra Nevada--esp. the Pale Ale and the Porter, but i don't think it's as good as it was in the past, either.

on tap, i'll still drink a Guinness and the draught cans are OK (though Murphy's is cheaper and at least as good if not better). the bottled product is nothing special....it just tastes flat.
