Next weekend's conference series:
Kansas State @ Texas A&M (Talk about playing for nothing)
Missouri @ Texas Tech
Nebraska @ Baylor
Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State

Kansas is playing out of the conference and Texas is playing a Saturday doubleheader against Dallas Baptist.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OU probably played their way out of a national seed this week, but winning two from Oklahoma State could very easily get them back in the picture. Texas finishes their conference season at Missouri in two weeks, and Missouri is going to have to win the series for Texas to not win the conference. The Nebraska/OU series could very easily be for the #2 seed in the Big 12 Tournament and a top eight national seed. I say this because even though three teams have often been deserving, I don't believe that the Big 12 has ever gotten three top 8 national seeds.

Its a tough conference. OU might drop to 10ish this week because of our stupid loss in the first of the double-header yesterday. Hope we can stay Top 10 for the rest of the season!

If Nebbish keeps losing like they have, and OU were to win the OSU and NU series, then Texas and OU would be in the front seat for one of the 8 seeds. The round robin layout of the Big 12 Tourney sounds interesting to me....and OU loves playing at The Brick.

Good job and thanks, ATH. Your recaps every Monday AM have been very helpful.

Too bad we couldn't get a sweep this past weekend. Now, to be tied with Neb. this coming weekend, we're gonna have to get some help from OSU.

If the Sooner nine just takes care of business these next two series, they can finish 2nd. It's not a championship, of course, but it can be used for a springboard for the conf. tourney then the NCAA's.

Excellent, thx for the updates.

Yea, hate to see the Sooners drop a game to teams they should beat. At this point, they just need to take care of OSU, and prepare themselves for a good Tourney run..

hey the good news is that we hadnt won 5 series in a row since 1986. So thats a plus. It seemed to me that we kinda put it in cruise control this week, with OSwho and nebbish coming up.

My goal right now is second in the conference. I hate tejas winning the whole thing, but getting second ahead of nebraska I would think would just about lock up a top 8 seed and give us home field advantage during a super regional. that would be neat.

"I would think would just about lock up a top 8 seed and give us home field advantage during a super regional. that would be neat."

Perhaps, but I believe that we would have to make a good showing in the conf. tourney as well.

Updated with today's result. Nebraska beat Oklahoma State, 10-6.

I can't see this conference tourney being weighted any more than the big12 tourney in basketball, as long as we dont look terrible we shouldnt lose our seeding. Im sure by that time most of the decisions will be made. Plus if we finish second in the conference, I would think that austin community college would be in the other pool and we wouldn't have to beat them until the final, which is a plus.
