dunno. it's going to be hard to find a free file hosting service that allows that extension. if you had some web space of your own somewhere, you could ftp it to your server and post a link to it.

Its a powerpoint slideshow a bud sent me of an F-22 with a stuck canopy and the pilot trapped inside. No crash or anything, the darn thing just wouldn't open. They used chainsaws to cut thru the plexiglass to get the guy out. He looks very p1ssed and embarrassed. I would like to add to his embarrasment by helping the file get around. I'm a giver like that.

About $188K worth of plastic shot to heck.

That's it. The only difference is mine is the official brief of the incident. Anyway, good stuff huh?

Yeah, according to a post on that blog, the PPS has a few pictures not included in that page.

I expect they figured it was better (cheaper) to cut the plastic than risk bending metal. Same quandary many a drunk who locked his keys in his car faced when he decided to bust the window versus taking a crowbar to the door frame.

Thing is, most aircraft I flew with a canopy had a canopy "de-clutch" mechanism that could be accessed from outside the jet by ground crews. It was usually just a t-handle you pulled from either inside the jet or by a guy outside via a little access door. Then, you just unstrapped and kinda stood up in the seat with your shoulders and back against the canopy using your leg muscles to make a crack in which the ground crew could get a handhold and help you get it the rest of the way up. I guess they left that off on the F-22
