It's possible the whorns could win another championship next year, because the Sooners obviously lost more talent in the draft. Maybe this was an up year rather than a down year for us. That would mean...*gulp*...Saxet returns more talent next year... We better prepare for the whornish onslaught in the RRS next year and for another 10 years after that. The whorns are the best football team on the planet. Oh woe is me!

Have to agree with the Sooner on this one. We whipped em, but not like they whipped us.

However, if we didn't have as much talent (that is according to NFL GM's) what else could have contributed to the win?:D

You had talent, but your guys had character issues. Rodrique Wright has talent, he is just a lazy SOB.

So "hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard " except when OU is playing you know who?

Chis Chester didn't play against Texas. Travis Wilson was injured. Davin was playing out of position because Millington quit right before the season started. And Peterson, of course, was injured.

Fix those things, and I like our chances.

One board in Austin is not able to contain our insight any more than one school in Austin is able to use all the high school football talent in Texas. In both cases it tends to overflow across the river.

One could say over the last 30 years that the better talent has come across the river and the lesser talent was left to Austin Community college..I mean the University of Texas

If one said that, one would think that OU had won more of those head-to-head games in 30 years, but they haven't. Better stick to the "since 1950" argument you guys love ... oh, Texas has won more RRS games since 1950 too.

Yeah the more you get the better it feels...

In between texas's NC's there was:

1,820 episodes of Meet The Press
12,783 days have passed
Cold war ended
All of the Friday the 13th movies were made
3,498 Grateful Dead concerts
The Space Shuttle . . . was invented
The handheld calculator was invented
8-track tapes popularized
Voicemail, fax, and carphones invented
The Carpenters had many hit singles
Disco. Freaking disco happened since their last NC.
Three's Company, Alice, The Jeffersons
Seven U.S. Presidents
The John 3:16 guy at NFL games.
The Vietnam War ended
The Gulf War occurred
MTV aired
Velcro was invented
Disposable diapers were invented
The Cosby Show, Cheers, and Seinfeld began and ended
Monday Night Football came and went
And of course, OU won their 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th

Actually over the last 30 years the series record is 14-14-2. We are both very even for you guys taking all the best players and sending all of the crappy players up north. We weren't the ones claiming that we got ALL of the best players in Texas and left the scraps for everyone else. We won 4 National Titles between your second and third title, and we won 3 before you won your first one. So does YOUR cream of the crop selections just not play well or perhaps do you not get the quality of players you like to brag about.

Actually it's 14-13-3, Texas. But I can understand why you'd want to convert a tie to an OU win.

We won 4 National Titles between your second and third title

You won 4 titles between '69 and '70? Sooners are superhuman.

I know what you were trying to say, but we can't let factual errors get out of hand. You might forget that we have more titles/wins/whatever in reality than what Sooner reality usually reflects.

And you're the one who first said the better talent came across the river over the past 30 years. So one would think they'd at least win more than Texas, if not a lot more, for you to say that.

I really don't understand the point of this thread.

Texas had 2 top 10 players picked, including the top quarterback and defnesive back.

You can twist those numbers any way that you want.

And like I explained earlier, a significant number of OU's first day picks were either hurt during the Texas game, or were forced to play out of position because somebody else was hurt/no longer with the team.

 Are you all turned around or maybe have combined me and a few other posters? Here's my involvement in the thread: Your "post earlier" said better talent in past 30 years went to OU. I said, funny they haven't won more games than Texas then. If there's anything to be explained, it's your comment.

Unless the answer is the standard reason why superior talent loses games. I doubt you meant to go that way, though.

Have to disagree with this Scott. Even when they absorb a 63-14 or whatever from OU they are so delusional as to believe it was not deserved and that they will be taking revenge the next year. ("They are NOT better than us, the just aren't.")

You forget four sets of important numbers. One new QB for Oklahoma. Then there are seven game officials for Texas. Next, remember VY's two interceptions questionably called back. And finally, five top rated U of T recruiting classes that were beaten by "outmanned" Oklahoma 63-14, 14-3, 35-24, 65-13 and 12-0, the latter three with VY on campus.

Plus even at that we were driving towards a TD if somebody had picked up the blindside that cuased Bomar's fumble and they scored on it. Had we went ahead an scored it's 38-21 who knows what could have happened after that. Another OU score and the Longwhoren's are in a dog fight. But, if's don't win ballgames, but makes it interesting what might have happened. In the games we scored over 60 point on the Longwhoren's there were no if's for them. AS that IS being destroyed.
