I was watching creation scapes this morning on television and for some reason I remembered a book I got as a child from weekly reader. this would be some 25 years ago now and I'm having trouble with the name of the book and wonder if any of you know the book I'm talking about.

the book was about a man going out to see and talking to a fish in the sea. I was thinking that was the name of the book. the book came with a 45 record that played the book as well. It was no classic but for some reason I found myself wanting to find this book. it was only about 20 pages but it was the 45 record and the guys voice that is stuck in my head. Any help would be appreciated.

Didn't Dickons have a book about that? Something like The Old Man And The Sea or some such thing.

Was the man Chinese?

There is a famous Asian parable about a man and a golden fish.

I don't remember that book bro, but that Five Chinese Brothers book was off da hook. Remember, one of 'em had an iron neck the executioner couldn't chop thru. One of 'em could swallow the the whole river. One couldn't be burnt. It was crazeeee.:D

Right Flagstaff. Hemmingway. The story line was about the man's struggle trying to catch the fish or something.

Well you have to give us more to go on.

When you said the man talked to the fish, I kinda assumed the fish talked back.

Or was it an old man and he was crazy? That's not the type of story I would normally think was read to children.

I want to see a story about somebody who took a torch to that little boat and sent it to the bottom of the sea!

:D

Seriously, I can remember as a little boy seeing some sort of story about a tug boat or a train engine or some such thing. It had a face similar to the one pictured above. I kept thinking to myself as the story unfolded, "that thing needs to toughen up a little bit." I guess I thought the boat/train/whatever was a sissy or something.

I think that means he's tossing one shoe immediately, and cocking the other
one, ready to fire.

Right Flagstaff. Hemmingway. The story line was about the man's struggle trying to catch the fish or something.

The "struggle" was less re catchin' the marlin, but trying to get it back to shore. Sadly, El Tiburon done et all but the head and backbone before he (played by Spencer Tracy, RIP) could get there. Hemingway wrote good and insightful stuff.

Pretty sure it's called 'Magic Fish'

The one where he caught the magic fish and then turned it free, but his wife kept sending him back to make bigger and bigger wishes because she was never satisfied.

It will be in the cheap paperback section of Barnes and Noble kids area.

He so should have used one of those wishes to wish for more wishes. :eddie:
